i litterly got this nothing works i played it earlyer today and nothing changed on my damn pc im pi**ed off atm. its pretty retarted they dont fix hacks all them hacks stay and the legit players get hold back cause of the stupid xtrap that doesnt even keep hackers out it keeps legit player out -
this happened to me too, but i know it was the new windows update that i agreed to install and restart then this happened, I am using windows 8.1 and today it said there was a new windows update, so i let it update and then i was not able to play anymore.

Yeah after I updated Windows 8.1 I seem to encounter problems with Cross Fire. My problem is that Cross Fire's login screen is frozen then the program is unresponsive and closes itself. -
I have the same problem. I was playing in the morning, and now I'm trying to play again but I get the X-trap error mentioned above. I also updated my Windows 8.1 in the afternoon, so it seems like the update it causing the problem. X-trap is now compatible with windows 8 yet, and it has been released for quite some time already. Please, do something about it, there's people that want to play.

You have a security setting that you need to Disable, There are 4 different ones, I don't remember which one the exact one that lets Crossfire load, but you could turn off one at a time and see if it gives you the error. I would not recommend you to disable all 4 security program, because your computer will be really easy to get in to. I hope this helps some of you!

I currently get this error on my new laptop, Dell Windows 8.1.
I have turned off my Firewall and Anti-virus but I still get the same message. I have also did a clean re-install of CrossFire but it still hasn't work.
We're currently working with x-trap to have this addressed and fixed. -

Welp, good news folks. As usual it is a Windows update issue, not x-trap! Simple fix for most of us is like ol boy previously stated: open up your control panel, go to windows updates,(may have to change from category view to list) uninstall your latest 2 Security updates, restart and cross your fingers. Works on my Win8 -

Could you specify which 2 security updates?
Like for example...
"Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2922229)"?
or
"Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2939087)?
I'm assuming it's the 2 that I described because it's the only 2 Windows specific that I need to do a restart update and haven't done so yet. But I think what Saidin alluded to was to have Xtrap recognize the Windows security updates and to not block CF because of those updates.
The other 2 are Internet Explorer related... and could be disregarded? They're also pending a restart update. xD -

If deleting or disabling one of the four offending security updates still doesn't let you run cf i suggest restoring your computer to an earlier date. It worked for me but that was before the Stealth patch update.
Be careful though. If you update cf first for the stealth patch then trying to restore to an earlier date will not work for cf as the hgwc file will be corrupted. You will have to reinstal cf after restoring windows, but at least the offending updates will be gone.
Until x-trap finds a solution, wait then load the 4 security updates for windows. -
Just fix it already. We wanna play, it's been a day that we can't play. Every update has issues. The one that finds hack tools that you don't have, kicks you out of the game, then have to wait 5 mins until you get in again still exists. Now we can't even play the game because Xtrap fails again. It fails all the time. Do something. All you care about is money. You disappoint everyone besides the hackers, who still play and never get banned.
