X-Fire Error [Urgently need help]

I tried to play yesterday, but for some reason X-Trap wont run properly and I cannot play the game, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the game TEN times and I still get the same message: "The access to X-Trap patch server is unstable or X-Trap update wasn't able to run properly. Please restart the game." Any and all feedback or support from the GM's or a Mod would be much appreciated as this issue leaves me unable to play and enjoy the game, I've been asking for help for TWO days and not a SINGLE person has offered any helpful solution at all.

Additional details: I've already used the CCleaner I've also deleted the X-trap folder dozens of times. For some reason when I check the folder for X-Trap there is nothing inside it, it's completely blank. My anti-virus already has Crossfire on the list of exceptions, I REALLY need help and fast, because I CANNOT play at all.

This is the message I get when I try and get the game going.

  • Can you post that as an image and not as a url link?

And I'm still waiting on the screenshot of your exceptions list.

I'm sorry for the delay, but my computer cannot take screenshots of any kind I already tried to, but it will not work. I have Norton Internet Security and the program is trusted. So what else is there that could be wrong? I've checked the Crossfire folder and the only thing that's probably an issue is the X-Trap folder being completely empty.
  • Yea that's an issue of an empty Xtrap folder. I'm in class atm.
But I'll upload my Xtrap folder for you to download and manually add in there.

Can you tell me, step by step, what goes on as soon as you double click the CF icon?
What windows pop up? What processes run? Stuff like that.

    Here are the Xtrap files.
Hope that actually solves your issue. :)

Thanks a lot dude! I'll try and use this file and hopefully it works. but basically when I start the game and it starts to patch a message comes up saying:

    Code field
    10-0400-0000000-700

the access to X-Trap patch server is unstable or X-Trap wasn´t able to run. Please , restart game. after that the game stops working.
  • Please. Post. Your exceptions list. Screenshot. Please.

    :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the program is trusted. I cannot take ANY screenshots I've already tried, the function does not work on my computer. I downloaded all the files for X-trap however the game will still not run, I'm not sure if there is even an actual exceptions list for Norton, however if you could find me a link that shows me how I might be able to figure it out, but i really do not know if there is such an Exception list for Norton.

EDIT: I tried to run the patcher_cf file directly from the Crossfire folder I get a message saying "Failed to load url of version.ini
  • I'll post images, at least with my version of Norton, on how to view the exceptions list. Literally it's "trusted" programs within the Norton Firewall

You could literally take a picture with a camera then connect and pass over to your computer. Etc. whatever. I'll give up on that front. Sorry. :(
  • Okay bumping this with the images from my Norton to view the exception's list.
    1) First you open Norton (duh) and click on "Settings"
    JdQJm7v.png
    2) In "Settings", click on "Firewall"
    S6KWdx2.png

2.5) In "Firewall", click on "Program Rules"

    UQecpQD.png

3-3.9)This is where it gets tricky, so I'll bullet it here:

    • Search to see if there are programs already added to the list with rules.
    • If there are any missing CF Programs, use the Add button. The 3 specific programs that will need rules are: crossfire.exe, CF_G4Box.exe, HGWC.exe
    • Explicitly set each of these 3 programs to "Allow". I left one of the rules with its drop-down menu to show what that would look like.

    mXtq1cy.png

4)Apply settings, restart your computer, then try the game again. Oh and if you didn't before, you should have crossfire.exe run as an administrator. Sorry if I did repeat myself there if I told you in a previous post. Lol.

Okay, So I've done all that and unfortunately the game will not run, and yes I've already tried multiple times running it as an Administrator. I apologize as well, If I'm being rude or impatient, I'm just really fed up and tired of this nonsense, Now it's been 4 days and I still cannot play. I managed to write down the exact code field error I get it says: 10-0300-800C0008-104 The access to X-Trap server is unstable or X-trap wasn't able to patch properly. Please help me, I'm really tired of dealing with this crap, it's just one screw up after another update or two, they can never quite fix the problems or address them as they should.

  • Let's not rage double post yet... :)

So you're telling me that HGWC.exe, crossfire.exe, & CF_G4Box.exe are all set to "Allow" in the firewall?

Can you walk me through step by step what happens when you double click the CF icon? (I assume you have it on the desktop as a shortcut)

What I'm looking for is running processes and programs that run, start/stop, etc.
*For example as a start: I double click the CF Icon on the desktop and I get the UAC (User Account Control) for the crossfirePT_launcher. I click Yes then move on.
I then get the CF Launcher screen, the one that has the server time, news, and the green start button.

On the process's side, if I did the same action (double click the CF Icon), I would get this:
A start and running of CF_G4Box.exe

small tidbit if you didn't know. The crossfirePT_launcher is the CF_G4Box.exe program. xD.

Okay so I'm sorry for wasting your time, and I'm really grateful for your help and speedy assistance. I think I've found a solution to this problem and I think it may also helps others who are also experiencing the same issue, There's a file called XTrapVa.dll when I downloaded the files individually, Norton immediately blocked that one in particular, So I had reinstall, I had to "Trust" that file only and when I ran the game again, it immediately started working. Thanks again for your help, I hope maybe this might help others too.
  • Lol.

Well that's new info xD. Glad ya got your problem solved. And no it was NOT a waste of time at all :)

    Have fun!
  • can you help me aswell my xtrap keeps say the samething ive tried evrything

Okay, so the game worked just fine yesterday, today when i try and launch it, the same stupid thing happens again. I run the game as an Administrator everything goes well, when X-Trap begins to start running I get the same error code as before "The X-Trap patch server is unstable or cannot run properly. Please help.

Edit: I also played Shadow mode with you yesterday, lol. I just noticed your Crossfire IGN. :P
  • Ahhh hahaha I did play with you yesterday!!! :D

OT: I can only say that Norton is continuing to block something that is preventing Xtrap from accessing their servers.
I personally have had no issues with Norton after I had set to "Allow" those 3 programs and running the game as an Administrator.

What version of Norton are you running? You can find it in Support, then About. At least on mine I can xD.

Well, I just checked, It said I'm running the latest version of Norton Internet Security.

Edit: I've also disabled Norton and tried to run the game as well, It still didn't work. I've also trusted all of the files for Crossfire so I'm not sure what the isssue is, I wish Saidan or one of the others would notice this and offer some form of assistance. i've checked for this problem, and it seem's there are no solutions for it. I'm not sure what else to do, I mean I've spent so much money on this game, yet I cannot play it at all.
  • I ve got the same problem. I have Mcafee i did everything patched xtrap with the files that 9 gave and all that its all excepted and i turned the anti virus off still freaked up!

Yeah, I don't know what the big deal is. What bothers me most is there's an event starting tomorrow the 300% Exp, and I can't even play at all. It's been almost an entire week and they have yet to do something about this issue, I know for sure there several others who've got the same issue, so it just can't be me alone. If anything, I want a refund, I spent money on Zp and what's the point in it being there if I cannot even play? I want my money back.
  • Can you tell me how you went about "disabling" Norton when you tried it?

I disabled the smart Firewall and disabled the auto-protect and tried running it again, however it will not work. :/
  • Hey buddy you could copy your folder Xtrap updated and put it back in mediafire? Last time solved my problem. Thank you!

I also posted again on your thread. Lol.

OT: Perhaps downloading and using this new version of Xtrap files may solve your problem, wingzero?

Thanks dude. It seems to be working for now, somewhat. But it's better than nothing. Hopefully it stays running from now on, for some reason when I join games, i cannot press start, which is strange.
