Version.ini Issues - March 9th - 10th

Hello,

We are currently responding to an issue that some players are having when trying to load the game.

They are getting a failed to download version.ini issue.

We believe this issue started mid-day on Sunday March 9th for some players.

At current our servers are working perfectly fine, however our distribution network may be experiencing some problems. We are currently investigating this issue.

If you can provide us your in game name, your geographical location and the time in which you started to receive this error that will help us compile a list of affected players so we can sort this matter out with our network partners.

For those with a Version.ini error please attempt the following steps:

[FONT=&quot]1) Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]2) [/FONT][FONT=&quot]Type the following command and press Enter: [/FONT][FONT=&quot]ipconfig /flushdns[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]3) [/FONT]Try to open in editor the file, http://cfpatch.z8games.com/download/version.ini
The correct version should be as follows,
[VERSION]

[FONT=&quot]MinimalVersion= 1120[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]OwnVersion = 6[/FONT]

When I Re-run the CF, my Version became 0 KB and it went blank~

After you edit your "version" text file:

1. Save it
2. Right click it
3. Click properties
4. Check the "Read only" box
5. Apply, and try again.

Lol ok so to give yourself access to edit the file:

1. Right click
2. Properties
3. Security
4. Change Permissions (Edit)
5. Check all the boxes for each of the users in that list
6. Apply, exit, then follow the previous guide I posted.

The problem for me started at 7th march

The problem for me started at 7th march till now 11/3/2014. I install cf on vmware using win 7 64 bit no pATCHER error but it cf cant open on vmware so i think the problem might be on windows8 64 only which i use and get the error. on Win 7 no error.

Please note that CrossFire is not intended to run under a virtual machine and some conflicts may occur.

Please note that changing the file to read-only may affect performance in the future.

We have some new things to try for players who have problems with the version.ini.

We believe it's because you may not be able to connect to some of our servers.

In order to troubleshoot this we need you to do the following:

1) go to http://whatismyipaddress.com and list the IP address of your computer.
2) go to http://www.damia.com/whatismydns/ and list your DNS IP
3) do a "ping" on the domain cfpatch.z8games.com (ping cfpatch.z8games.com in a command window) and post the ping result
4) run a tracert (tracert cfpatch.z8games.com in a command window) and post the result

2 way to fix it

hello i found a another way to fix that problem.
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
and delelete the host file then start ur game agan and its working agan.
ty for me it worked.
hope it will work for others.

My solution was a combination of using this and copy and pasting this:

[VERSION]
LatestVersion = 1161
MinimalVersion= 1120
OwnVersion = 6

[DOWNLOAD]

[SERVER]
COUNT = 1
IP1 =67.210.208.133
PORT1 =13008

POD2=50

First delete the "host" file then go back and edit the version.ini file with that ^

Lastly start the game with the patcher.exe and it worked for me.

Hi Friends Here is The Solution,

Try this It Worked For me,

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
and delete the host file then start your game again and its working again.
It worked for me,
