Data Transmission SOLUTION
Hey first of all i did not find this, [Tec]Epic told me about it, so idk the source but it works. Kind of annoyed with all the threads about it
Run patcher_CF.exe (in crossfire installation directory) as admin, and voila.
(right click CF shortcut, and click file open location to find installation directory)
no error, have fun. see you on the battlefield.

Doesn't work for me. I run my crossfire shortcuts as admin anyhow so I don't get the UAC pop ups
After 3 tries I can log into the game.
When I select a server to play in and then back out to the server selection window I receive an error that says data transmission not stable and get disconnected...
Then after 3 more tries I'm able to log back in and repeat the process.
Quick join button is useless. If you select quick join you immediately get the error message that your ID has already been logged in and then disconnected from the game.
3 more login attempts later you can repeat.

Don't run your CrossFire shortcuts as admin. What you should do is go to Computer > Disk where you have CrossFire / z8games > Program Files > Z8games > CrossFire > patcher_cf.
Patcher_cf is the application that you should run as admin. -

Why not? It does the same thing. All it does when you tic the box on either the shortcut or the .exe file to run the program as administrator itself is that it asks the system for administrator privileges to run the program.
It's probably not a good idea to change the .exe file itself in case you were to get malware that knows the predefined location of your installed files as it could then run it as administrator.
I did your suggestion. It makes no difference. Anyhow that is not the path to the directory that it installed on this machine.
EDIT:
Anyhow it's a network problem as stated by Saidin that started yesterday. I don't see how it could be a permission problem on the local machine once the program is already started when nothing changed and all was fine since the patch. -
Not sure what your problem is. This works.
Run patcher_CF.exe as admin.. it is not same as crossfire.exe
Patcher_CF.exe bypasses the start up screen. Not sure why that helps, but it does.
Response to Edit: yes the problem is a network issue, but you are running the WRONG program. Patcher_CF =/= Crossfire.

Yup. That's what I've always used to launch the game.
"E:\GAME INSTALLS\CrossFire\patcher_cf.exe"
Response to your edit.
That is the very same .exe file you are talking about. The only difference is that I have it installed on a shared hardrive accessible to my other machines.
Edit:
Thank you Zombies. I do appreciate you trying.
Here's a pro tip.
If you have programs that you run and don't like getting the UAC pop up everytime you open it you can bypass the UAC prompt with this tool http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/UAC-Pass.shtml It makes a task schedular entry and then a shortcut to it.
The author's website is down for now http://freeavvarea.r00t.la/UACPass-en#features-and-download
but this article will explain all the details and answer many questions about the process http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/uac-and-one-program-used-very-regulary/67bfc4b5-faff-4de4-be48-f395bf1c519d -
Either way, it's not a solution. It's a temporary fix, just like retrying the game itself. It works without running as admin. Like most have been doing, you simply relog. Just got to wait until they are done fixing it on their end.Anyone having problems with the Deposit page not working? I click on Deposit it doesn't do anything.
but, it took me a few tries when clicking the deposit link. -
