Cheaters and CrossFire

Lets face it. We all know CrossFire has an extreme problem. Cheaters. If CrossFire doesn't fix this problem soon they are going to loose players, money, and loyalty. I love playing this game because its original and one of a kind, but I cant stand all these cheaters. I play in Echo 8 because I like to compete so it isn't so bad. Whenever I try to warm up in Alpha there are anywhere from 1-5 cheaters in a regular TDM Pub. This is ridiculous.

So how do we fix it?

Theory 1: I am no expert but im sure z8/g4box/smilegate could put more finance toward anti cheats if small companies like ESG can successfully do it.

Theory 2: Cheat nuke: My theory similar to the bot nuke in Runescape which got rid of over 100 thousand botting programs and banned over 7.7 million bot users. Is this possible for CrossFire? I don't know?

Theory 3: Make CrossFire P2P (Pay to play). As simple as 10$ to download or create an account would stop cheaters, but would not stop players. You will still have a huge player base and way less people will risk getting banned cheating to pay another 10$ to create an account.

These are just my ideas to try and brainstorm and help the community. If you have any theories or comments post them below! Thanks!

#cheatnuke2014
#createchange2014

Lets get together as a community and finally put an END to cheaters in CF!

  • man i like the 3rd one! 20$ for new account (Smileyface:) i bet ya this will removed all the hacker for sure :))
  • Amen when it comes to trying to warm up in Alpha. Even though I don't play anywhere else besides Echo most of the time.

Cheating is the worst problem in CrossFire, and Z8 Games hasn't improved to show it. Simple. Still love the game though.

    1) acs for competitive tournies/leagues are sifted through by admin at the slightest wiff of bs
competitive acs work because they arent an everyday thing for thousands/millions of gamers.. so people dont try to bypass/crack them
they also work because they are usually more potent than a general ac, be it oldschool growler or some of the newer stuff they tend to eat more resources (and a large amount of the playerbase wont have a good pc in the first place)

    2) i think it worked on runescape because its a browser game, much simpler
although id enjoy this, especially if it got rid of macro/script usage

    3) its an f2p game, the best that could be done are make servers for people who have paid, be it 10k or 4m zp

    ~~

ill continue sticking with more powers in-game for old accounts made in a 1st world country with honorable soldier

immunity to kick except by another player with the same status as you
    extra kicks
    your votes count as more
a few instant kicks per day
ability to disable voting/votes by players with over 100 ping or w/e when creating a room (dont deserve to vote if you are as stupid as the majority of the 100+pingers)

we out brawn, out brain and out wealth the plague of hackers on cf.. yet we let them walk all over us = =
  • or maybe send someone to monitor the GM which make hacks and then publishes them and after this take money from people for unban there accounts

we are at the limits of science fiction. stop pointing fingers and start making the kick of hacks from room! instead of making the kick to honest people!

So does Z8games have any plans to address this problem?
  • What about make x10 more MODs??like 200-300 MODs...and then send them too all the Servers and chanels...like 8-10 MODS in every chanel and give them the privilege Kick and Ban hackers immediately :P

    just a thoughtt...

    The problem of cheating?
    Yes, certainly.
  • The z8games faces this problem every day.
Why are accounts hack like "hhhsdisj"?
Why do people create it with the intention of using tricks very often. these accounts only last a few days because they are banned immediately.
Again, we start to make the kick in the room, instead of protegere hackers. If you start with the idea we keep hackers in the team, because the other team has already a hacker, you do not go forward.
We are the ones that first of all we shall divide move to make things better, then we can try to improve the system!
Another thing I hate to see in the chat, that the blame for everything, and the Turks and Egyptians, it is not. A hacker can be any person in the world who loves to spoil the fun!

It's easier than that. They just need to use Punkbuster and ban ip address.

They've been saying "Be quiet about it we are going to fix it. Our plans are in place." forever. So they keep telling people to shut up about it so they don't have to spend money to fix it.

Can we stop using speculative conjecture to discuss these issues? It's pointless if you ask me. You can't just look at the things that Z8Games cannot control, it's only a game portal and publisher. It has nothing to do with the bigger pictures, linking Smilegate, G4Box, and Neowiz (the Korean developers). Z8Games, as a whole, probably only has 10-20 people in their headquarters. The support and technical team is relatively small. I'm sure that you and a few other individuals can't take on the job of ridding hackers through any easy way either... well, that is the same case for Saidin and the guys.

You really have absolutely no idea what they do with the money they earn. Even I don't know their specific plans, how could you? They can choose to tell you, or they don't, it's completely their choice. However, there are still very valid threads out there in which Saidin explains the situation addresses the hacking problem. Even though it was posted awhile ago, it is STILL worth reading, which I'm sure that a whole lot of you haven't bothered to.

Don't get me wrong, I hate hackers as much as any of you do here. I'm all in for everything that can be done in order for all of us to be able to play a clean game. But really, what is the point of just continuing and repeatedly point out the problems over and over again? I get it and I get that most of you are angry at Z8Games for not being able to provide a cleaner game - it's understandable. Though you can't straight-up place the blame hammer right on Z8. It's not their fault, and you're missing the big picture and the actual truth. And I'm sure Saidin and the rest of the guys at Z8Games are fully aware of everything. This is something moderators usually has to touch on. When there are hundreds of threads all related to the hacking problem a week, how can you imagine that the GMs don't know about it and continue to make it an effort to come up with effective solutions?

    I agree with you.
  • And? The result is = Game over CF

This game had already lost sooo many legit players and has the worst reputation in the world of all f2p-games. NO legit player will come back and nobody wanna play this game any more. Watch the channels and rooms. Only a half of it is really used and the other half exist of hackers and cheaters.
Its too late to fix the game ( if they want). They missed too many chances in the past.
  • but it is possible that you are so negative?
but look at how many beautiful things there are weapons, modes, maps, and always new and beautiful things coming. because you want to see the worst.
  • [MOD]dot wrote: »

    Yes, certainly.

Every hack wave is met with "we're working on it" and more and more of the target audience (North Americans) drop off the player base. 3/4 of the player base have 150+ ping and are playing on new accounts. Achievement armor has made this game cater to newer players driving out older players. Face it CF is a dead art, send it back to the 09 days and you have one of the best if not the best F2P FPS but now I wouldn't even put it on my list.

Who need new (many stupid) weapons, modes, mapes if the game exist only by hackers? Its funny. Do you know how many legit players already left this game? Do you know how many (reported) hackers never get banned?
Watch and play the game today..try to finish a few games! NOT possible to play 3 games in a row without 10 hackers.
The whola world already named this game HACKFIRE hahahaah, so funny. It makes more fun to play TETRIS than this game hahahaahaha.
I love it, that many ppl still hope its going better in the future.
  • I agree with the P2P stuff but many players would stop playing and CF would lose more players probably ( not sure but this game should be a P2P game ).

And no CF can't make a nuke since they need to fix report website first. Plus bots in runescape were only botting to make GP in green dragons or other stuff so they are not disturbing other players that are actually playing the game ( except for profitable skills such as hunter, mining and others ).

Speaking of conjecture if you did research you would see that the Wikipedia that mod Dot pushes me to use reveals that starting on Jul. 18th, 2011 the company had 75 staff at it's studio with a reported annual income of 17.5 million Canadian dollars. That was almost 3 years ago. I'm sure it's grown even more since then with the addition of all the other games they are now publishing. 10 people running a huge game like this is not even close to being believable.

This method of earning company revenue can more effective than having an actual up-front purchase, as it promotes the player to continually purchase ZP, which is approximately priced at $1 (USD and CAD) per 1000 ZP. The company has a reported annual revenue of $17.5 million (CAD)

    This right here^

    EDIT :

We shouldn't forget that z8games has other games such as metin ( I think ), LS and Arcade games etc. So those 17,5 Million Canadian Dollares don't come from Crossfire only.

On Jul. 18th, 2011 when this was reported on the Wikipedia those other games listed weren't being ran by Z8 except for metin2. If Metin was profitable it would still be being published by Z8.

Indeed. I believe metin was pretty profitable back in the days.

No, not really. Although Z8Games is a growing portal of partnership and publish of new games like Arcane Hearts and Lost Saga, I'm willing to bet you that 50-80% of the employees at Z8Games have absolutely zero ties with CrossFire. There are actually separate offices at the HQs. I'm sure that they know about CrossFire, but they just don't work with it at all.

Over the years, things have changed and the guys who worked with CrossFire at Z8Games are no longer around anymore. I'm not even sure that there are 75 employees there - I'm going to leave that to Saidin to confirm if he chooses to. But we can see that dramatic change... especially when Hpx and Swifty recently announced their resignation. Some GMs that I've recognized and have interacted with in the past years are no longer in position, especially have the Metin2 "move".

I think that 75 employees for 2 games like Crossfire and Metin2 back in the days is pretty low. So they split the employees and they work in different departments for each game? Not sure about the exact amount of employees now but it must be quite high now.

Z8Games is ONLY the name of a website and the portal, meaning they distribute CrossFire. It technically isn't even a company. Besides, there is really no need for any more than 10-20 employees working directly with CF at Z8. That's all that is necessary. Having too much people congested in a single department, interacting with and managing CrossFire may cause problems. You do have to realize that Z8 isn't EA and they're not supposed to be.

The bigger picture is set for Smilegate, who holds the license with G4Box (this is how CF NA/UK was released and is still running today) and is under contract with WiseLogic for the integration of X-Trap into CrossFire. For those of you who thinks Z8Games can just "cancel" that contract with WL, you're wrong. Z8 cannot sign or repeal contracts, AT ALL.
