So I am wondering what YOUR reason is
Do you ever donate money to a charity?
If not, then why?
Me, myself and I are not giving money to a charity, because I'm at an age that I can need every coin. But my compensation is that I do volunteering work for sick elderly people. Sick in their brains so that makes it harder.
But that's my contribution to society.

For worthwhile charities yes I do.
PDSA, British Red Cross and Save the Children.
I don't bother with bs charities like the NSPCC tho since Local Authorities do child protection and I won't donate to RSPCA to "save animals" when in fact they kill them to make space and use funds from donations for that. -
I try to donate 20% of my earnings to various charities, sponsor a few children in 3rd world countries, it's nice to do, they write me letters, draw me pictures, send photos. It helps pay for their school and food, some is given to their parents as well. Another charity I donate to covers education tuition in Ghana, it's only 10 dollars a kid per a year. I try to normally donate to my church and another group that gives bibles to people who live in countries where it is banned. Donate my old toys and clothing to salvation army. Gaming side, there is always humble bundle. Also try to help our veterans and local food drives.

Absolutely not.
I believe that very few charities can do much to influence any situation, and its not in my interest to find those who can.
I also feel that regional issues are to be dealt with using regional resources or the interest of progressive nations (I don't mind if it is for a purely profit-based reason), not the goodwill of individuals who have earned their money for themselves.
Of course I recognize the need for some people to redeem themselves spiritually or morally through charity, and I don't think it weights against them - nor against me if I choose not to. -

this^
even donating clothes does so much for people, and to just write off the majority of charities as 'kony 2012s' is completely wrong -

My parents have two annual Christmas parties (Christmas in July, and Christmas in December), and each guest is to bring a imperishable item(s) for the food bank. We had a car load full of imperishable foods from this years Christmas in July party, and hopefully our Christmas in December party will be just as successful!
My family also gives any clothing that we no longer fit to the Salvation Army, and we tend to buy from thrift stores that donate all of their proceeds to people in poverty.
I've also recently been taking part in my schools Environmental team, in which we collect all of the recyclables from our school, and donate all the proceeds to Red Cross. We also plant trees, clean up the neighborhood, etc, and it's a good time.
It feels good.
