So I just got my motherboard back from ASUS, I tried to do a test boot, and it didn't POST. It just gets an 00 Q-code. How can I tell if it's my CPU that doesn't work or my motherboard?

Cause its $200 and 760W. And the motherboard's lights are on.

motherboard lights don't mean that the PSU is good, it just means that it is receiving power, i am assuming you aren't hearing any beeps?

No sounds. It just turns on for half a second and off. Only POST code is 00. The audio part isn't lighting up so I think it might be the motherboard and ASUS didn't repair anything.

is your dedicated GPU in, if so take it out and try

I tried that. Still didn't post. The CPU Led is on. Is that conclusive enough that the CPu is the problem

well first check for bad capacitors

second check the pins on your cpu are bent or not

third, use only 1 stick of ram if you aren't already and is the correct mhz

fourth, reset the CMOS

if that doesn't help, you can go to a local tech store and they might test your CPU for you not sure, just make sure everything is tightly seated in your motherboard especially your PSU connectors.

It's a delidded 4770K but that shouldn't be the problem since it was working before.

Pretty sure I've read somewhere that the specific error code you're getting is a damaged capacitor.

hardly likely to be the CPU if it's not beeping. it's probably a faulty mobo.

check the 4 pin connectors in any case.

Yeah it is more than likely the mobo, i would ask for a refund if not too late or demand a replacement, i've had the same issue with my lenovo, company says they looked over my laptop motherboard but i put a special paint on the screws and saw that the lid was not even untightened, LOL, they got an earful for that. seems like ASUS has done the same thing.

So I send in a motherboard that I just sent in and got back? Also, would it be wise to try to RMA the CPU even though it is obviously delidded?

I don't think it is the CPU, so it's really up to you if you want to RMA, if it's a hassle i wouldn't, it's more than likely a bad mobo

Just curiosity, did you delid the CPU to replace the thermal compound O_o. Tempting to try it because I heard replacing the thermal compound with better quality ones do in fact improve the temperatures of the cores.

I delidded it with a hammer and vise, and put CLU on instead of the stock TIM. Wouldn't recommend using a razor, since it could cut through traces and kill it. About the article, I'm about done with ASUS too. 3rd time needing to get an RMA. Luckily I got one from Amazon the first time.

everything is worth buying on amazon because their return policies, honestly though ASUS was one of the better mobo brands though
