I have a tattoo on my ribs, have 2 jobs currently, been offered 4 more, accepted one, leaving the other two this week.

I have no tattoos (yet) but many friends who do.
They feel bad about perhaps one in ten, usually made in youthful ignorance.
The rest are images of pride and remembrance and that won't change until they get old and wrinkly or experience a major philosophical overhaul.
And we're really not just talking about the tattoo itself either - the act of actually getting it done is very satisfying to them too.
The money point is of course something one has to value himself based on income and benefit, I can't argue for anyone else, but for me - a major work of precision and art in the form of a tattoo is worth a couple of hundred bucks - just like I buy paintings for much, much more. -

The people who regret getting tatto are usually ones who get them in a garage at a friends house. There's also all those people who get tribute tattos. They end up regretting it only because they were emotional at that time and tattoing is an alternative to recieving pain (if they get into that stage). Then when they snap out of it they will see the tatto and it will only remember them of that dark time. That's why many artist don't condone on getting something like that.
There are many people with tattos, but not all want to show and tell because there tatto has a message and only a reminder to themselves not others. They are just open about it, nothing wrong with that. Besides you are not even old enough to get one yourself. Unless you get those awful tattos friends of friends do.
