"Get them away from religion" - Would be a good thing, but only if it could be done on a larger scale, which I doubt is possible.
With your logic, I could say the same, what about all those nuclear devices and machines made to kill? did those come from religion or science? isn't their only purpose to kill? so science developed a device only designated to kill people? we should get rid of science! -

religion is all about personal gratification, which is admirable but not very useful for the world as a whole, if that is the ideal, unless we can agree on one religion.
nevermind i'm tired, scratch that -
well, science delivers good - and bad - to the world as a whole.

most religions only preach people to good, it is people who do bad, for one, christianity (an example i can speak for) is not about personal gratification but more about loving one another but not for personal gratification, again it is people who have twisted religion to manipulate people, as a result people go around blaming the religion but fail to see that religion is not at fault but a corrupted person leading the religion, all can be said similarly with science or whatever one chooses to believe in. anything can drive a person to do evil and anything can drive a person to do good. also to say that science doesn't imply personal gratification would be wrong. -

didn't make sense to me a minute after posting either. -

Might be true for the moment but that moment is going to end pretty soon. Right moves? o.0 16 Trillion in debt and counting, patriot act etc lol.AwfulFallout wrote: »most religions only preach people to good, it is people who do bad, for one, christianity (an example i can speak for) is not about personal gratification but more about loving one another but not for personal gratification, again it is people who have twisted religion to manipulate people, as a result people go around blaming the religion but fail to see that religion is not at fault but a corrupted person leading the religion, all can be said similarly with science or whatever one chooses to believe in. anything can drive a person to do evil and anything can drive a person to do good. also to say that science doesn't imply personal gratification would be wrong.
The good bits of religion you mean?
Not the parts where you are directly told via "holy scripture" to the impose the death penalty on people for working on the sabbath, slay infidels or make them pay a tax, and that gentiles are just cattle/beasts. (covered the main 3 religions).
People pick and choose what they want out of holy books because there is something for everyone, including the most violent religious nuts, who really are doing gods work and following scripture (if it's his scripture). -

please PM me the scripture that are violent in regards to Christianity, and if they are double check whether or not if they are old or new testament, willing to bet it is going to be old. -

Most probably the old before they edited his scripture, but are they suppose to edit God's word?:p -

no, jesus "edited" the scripture, apart from the scripture written after his resurrection like st.peters letters etc which was not much of revising but additional works -

God is to Big to fit into one religion....... -
God is to Big to fit into one religion.......
inability to properly explain God in one book reflects poorly on the intelligence of the human writers (or do they simply not make paper big enough?), it does not demonstrate the magnificence of God. -

You can bring up nukes, I can bring up the Crusades. We can continue..
Science is good, and bad. Religion is good, and bad.
Someone is shot. You don't blame it on the gun, or the person who made the gun. You blame it on the guy/girl who pulled the trigger.
More people have been murdered in the name of God (assuming the Bible and other religious text/doctrine aren't just made up BS, as they appear to be) than in the name of science.
edit* As for America: Greatest Empire known to man. Corrupts the world and still plays the hero. We have military bases all over the world. Why? We still have military bases in Japan. WWII was 70 years ago.
Its like we think we should own the world, yet we can't even pay our debts. American people as a whole are mindless sheep thinking everything will work itself out. They leave it to the Govt to solve their problems, when its the Govt who caused them.
#democracy
Down with the political parties, down with religion, down with the Empire. Who is with me? No one? Okay, back to being a sheep. 2 bigmacs, large fry, large drink pl0x -
Christianity
Islam
Buddhism
New Age
Hinduism
Christians believe in a God who is loving and approachable.
Muslims believe in a powerful but unknowable God.
Buddhists say there is no deity.
New Age followers believe they are God.
Hindus acknowledge multitudes of gods and goddesses.

This is of course theoretical, as terms like "muslim" and "buddhist" wouldn't exist if we all believed in one God. -

Muslims believe in a powerful but unknowable God.We could agree that god is omnipotent, and that every person is free to believe whatever, to get the Buddhists in too.

All religions are "peace" and "tolerant" or so I hear.i don't understand.

Please note I was using my religion Islam, to disprove these, I have studied Judaism and All religions of the bible so don't think I was disregarding the other Religions of the books. -

I listen to Imams like this one below that know more about Islam than just a Muslim:

With regard to the West/Middle East and terrorism - I side with the Middle East, as it is in fact America that acts as a terrorist country along with some other Western nations. So don't think it's unjust negative views of Islam.
However that doesn't mean that Islam is a religion of peace. In fact it's anything but.
Islam permits the killing of apostates.
Killing of adulterers
Killing of gays.
Killing of Infidels.
Has negative views on non believers as a whole and encourages Muslims to be isolationists.
Sure you can say well not all Muslims do these things but remember we are not discussing Muslims but the religion and the scripture.
No I'm not too fond of Gays but they do have a right to live but if your say your religion is peaceful and tolerant then why wouldn't you welcome gays?
I think what is dangerous about Islam is it's inability to evolve as the Quran can never be changed, edited or updated. In this respect it will always have the same guidance and will be unable to conform to modern times. -

And they do demonstrate it, maybe you should try reading the Qu'ran. Unfortunately, the Bible has been changed many times by humanity but the Qu'ran is memorized veer since the first lines and all of it never contradicts itself, so therefore the Qu'ran is legit.
I've read the Qu'ran.
It's quite offensive to assume I haven't simply because (you assume) I'm not muslim.
Theres no denying that the middle east was the pinnacle of scientific achievement back then, which people tend to forget, in terms of mathematics, astronomy, philosophy and medicine.
Obviously the book isn't fake in the sense that it is indeed inarguably a book.
But believing that the book was memorized by Muhammad and dictated by God himself is a choice, not a condition of its existence. -

I said in the name of "God", not by the word of "God"
