Question to the Americans

Why is the average American teen so mad about 9/11 when they were like.... 3 when it happened.... and dont know anyone killed in the attacks.

Is it because you are all so easily brainwashed and told what to think, feel and believe?

Why does it concern you SO much?

Id understand if a family member died but most people mad about it didnt KNOW anyone that died and/or were too young to remember....

The UK have had several terrorist attacks, namely the 7/7 attacks but noone in the UK but the families of those killed really remember or are bothered by it several years down the line... But you guys all mark it as an anniversary and make it seem almost a public holiday or even worshiped.

Every year its the same.... "9/11" this... "Never forget" that... Can I start posting 7/7 threads?

Can I start posting threads in the memory of those civilians that lost their lives to the Americans in the Middle East?
Or does that not concern you because it doesn't make you lot look like a victim?

Ok, yeah, it was a sad, horrific event... but it was 12 years ago now... Let it go.

Just looking at some replies on the forum over the years on the threads... barely any of you even remember it because you were so young... but when I start poking the bear... you all jump on me saying how sad it was... YOU WERE 2! The saddest thing you probably had happen to you then was when you stood on the cat and it clawed the crap out of you or when you dropped your ice cream!

Just let it go.

  • People just love trying to ruffle others feathers during this time of the year. For nothing else but to try and be funny. Key word is "try"

None of this thread was me trying to be funny.

Its simply trying to point out American self absorbed, arrogant and self pitying nature.

Never said you were attempting to be funny or not. Simply directing my reply to those in general who try to tell otghers how to think, feel, or act about something in their own countries past. B e it 12 years or 12 mins ago, you really think anyone is even cares if you care or vice versa? Nope, this is simply an attempt to get some to reply so you can try to match wits with kids on a games forums. As if 90% of you got the whole world figured out .

You clearly do. So tell me, am I right or wrong?
  • Gotta look at it from the perspective of. Other then Pearl Harbor(Only one to come to mind at the moment). That was a major attack on US soil. No one ever really just walks on to US soil and starts a WAR or anything of that nature. So it took lots of people by shock.

Now in my own opinion I still think the US Government was behind the whole ordeal but thats just my 2 cents.

Neither. You assuming all Americans are like that. I had family on the Carrier Roosevelt, the 1st battle group to respond in Afghanistan after 9-11. Do you see me complaining or whining bout it? Does no good to do so. Simply I pay my respects and go on about my day. 9-11 wasnt and wont be the only bad day in American history so I dont need to act like my world ended that day or on any other. Do I feel that its sometimes played out thru media and what not? Absolutely, but its done so by the "worlds" media. Not just simply American. Tell me that in the Uk right now none of your networks and airing it as we speak?
  • We don't understand it because we're not like Americans.

My country hasn't had a proper war since late 1700 early 1800, long before America was America.
War isn't in our blood, probably not yours either though I'm pretty unfamiliar with the UK.

As if being Sweedish or Brtish really brings that much more clarity to the situation.

"Why is the average American teen...."

Then why DO most Americans act like it was the end of the world?

It is absolutely played out by the media... which points to my statement about Americans being brainwashed into what they should think and feel...

Not as far as ive seen today, no. Its been made out to be such a big deal and has started a war that it is broadcast everywhere in the first place.

The only thing ive seen in British media is the remnant of a girder from one of the towers being found in a junkyard and moved to the olympic site as a monument for the British citizens that died..

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/

    Nothing on the BBC.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

    Nope, Nope and Nope.

All the major UK news sites and newspapers... All concerned about the American International Police attacking Syria.

Ok that being said, why are you concerned. I mean obviously it bothers you so much on what others may say or feel bout this certain day? I mean other then a chance for you to incite some kiddie anger from some, really whats the point? And no I can careless what day on the calendar it is honestly. I still got work to do and bills to pay so I dont sit around worrying so much bout trival things. Just a bit curious
  • I remember it quite well. And no unfortunately I was NOT 3. :o
The event radically changed my life as I was an American living in the Middle East then.

    I have moved on though.

Seems not many can though. If some choose to highlight this day every year then so be it. If not thats fine too. Its theiur choice either way. Some just quite frankly wanna use it as a reason to discuss foriegn policy and what not. As if this is the best place for any of this. I agree moving on in my opinion is whats best but its others right to do as they wish with it. Be honest you know what this is all about anyways ;)

    This ^^

America needs to know that they are not invincible. There are threats out there which can tear your country down.

I want to understand what makes the Americans tick....

I like to understand why people say and do things... why people say this thing thats "Bad" and another person that should think its equally bad who doesnt care in the slightest... like here.

I study social psychology... the way peoples brain works... catch out a liar using facial expressions... why do people murder when others would rather die than commit murder.

I too work and have bills to pay... you dont work 24/7 and surely something you ponder about crosses your mind... like today for me about Americans and the way theyre told to behave. So whats your point?

    It doesnt....

    Radical opinion on the Americans.

I actually work alot more then you give me credit for but thats another story. You're bored huh. I mean this was simply made to get as many as you can to flame or w/e . I'm an american and gl having anyone tell me what to think or say . So that logic is beyond silly. You should know this from previous encounters I do what i want anywhere I want ^^. But hey if you think that you can figure out what" Americans" think or crosses our minds on these forums gl.

I dont believe for a second that you work too much to have a thought cross your mind about current events.

Youre not the average american... Youre clearly more intelligent than that.

Good point on the forum part. But its a good idea to understand why the 13 year olds around here are so upset by 9/11 when theyre werent even self aware yet.

Do you conjure up extremely complicated thoughts?

How you feel about it and think about it is something that can easily be put in to words and for Giggletron to 'figure out', if you know why you feel and think like you do.
If you don't, its more complicated.

I do set aside a small portion of the day to remember it, like 10 min or so. It doesn't really take long to do the small 1man ceremony in my head. Lol some discuss foreign policy? I personally look back at the recent history in the Middle East that I was a part of. It's crazy to look at it from a different angle. One way while I was living there, now I'm looking back while in Texas.

Giggles.... Idk... Blame the media I suppose for continuing the "hype".

I just dont do politics , never have nor will. I do agree that most of these "teens" only know what the media and their parents have projected on them about 9-11. Most werent of any age to even have a clue what it did and how things have changed. Wont argue there. I do havea ton of work, I just choose not to worry bout the worlds issues more then I do my own.

H'es 100% entitled to his opinions as are you. But to label it just an "American" issue is quite silly. It changed alot more then just America politics and such. Not too complicated to figure out I'm sure. I dont really care for any politics myself and for my own reasoning. Doesnt need to be posted for gamers to try and judge as if it matters here. For me its another day on the calendar anymore.

I guess I'm quite narrow-minded but I can't think of any nation that would react the same way to the same situation.

So in my world, it IS an American thing.
  • Pretty sure if I went around posting about mangled bodies in a car wreck every anniversary of Princess Di's death or perhaps images of teenage boys being shot over some Nowegian's radical thoughs on Islam it would sit just fine with alot on here too :) I'm all for a good laugh so please dont take my thoughts on any of this seriously lol.

To each his own. Not as if anyone from a nordic country ever shot no on over islam right

    What..
I'm sure lots of Scandinavians have shot lots of Muslims. Jews too, for sure. Countless Christians no doubt.

I'm not bashing America, its just an interesting phenomenon to me, this patriotism.
If you don't want to discuss it, you really don't have to.

Different kettle of fish there.. Im not posting about mangled bodies in the World Trade Centers every year...

Im simply stating that Americans are blindly patriotic to the level of ignorance and arrogance.

    Precisely.
