CF in game res corresponding to monitor res

I'm gonna sound like the dumbest person but,
I wanna run 1680x1050 res or something along those lines but it says i can't support it but I have a 21 or 22 inch monitor running 1920x1080? Any idea why?
Note: I searched google already.

Go to C:\Users\WhateverYourNameIs\Documents\Cross Fire and at the bottom should be a System file. Open it with Notepad and change the first number to a 6. This will get you 1920x1080. Enjoy!

Cant do the same with 1650x1080? =P
