OCG Playoff Teams

Just wanted to say that all of the groups have been interesting to see who comes out in the top 2, but I would have to say by far that group C has become one of the most intense groups to watch and be a part of.

First of all here is the current top 2 for each group:

A: Tech play (5-0) and Prefix (4-1)

B: Carbon (6-0), Ascend (5-1), CoolDown (5-1)

C: RTB (5-1), PDF (5-1), Kanzen (5-1), GoingUP (4-2)

D: AihiQQ (6-0), VIoo (6-0)

E: Jeden (6-0), InTheory (6-0)

F: Flawless (4-1), Wekwek (4-1)

G:: Fly Society (5-1), VGangsta (5-1)

H: FgHammertime (6-0), VGHS (5-1)

So these are all the teams in standing to have a shot at moving on to the playoffs. If PDF, RTB, and Kanzen all win Week 7 matches (which is possible since none of them play each other) There will be a 3 way tie for first in the group, making it I think the most interesting group to watch as we get closer to the playoffs since only 2 teams can move on a 3 way tie would be interesting to see. Best of luck to all the other teams, and I look forward to the intense showdown in my group for a spot in the playoffs.

    no
    • 1st and 2nd place of each group automatically qualify for playoffs
    • Each division's 3rd-6th place teams will play in a mini playoff (Single Elimination, best of 3) to determine the 3rd team for playoffs

If after 7th round you are 7th or 8th place you have no chance of advancing. 1st and 2nd place advance automatically, and 3-6 have to enter in a tournament to fight for the 3rd spot.

I've been racking my brain on how to do this tiebreaker. Obviously the easiest and fastest method is a 3 way coin flip.

The other idea I have is a round robin 5 round port battle between the 3. Which would have to take place on Saturday night after the sprayops vs pdf match. (Both kanzen and rtb play dead teams) <-- This would be fun and exciting to cast. But would be harder on a logistical point.

Do you know what team will play what? Like team 3v6 then 4v5 and then the winner of those vs each other. Would it be something like that? @ocgdr****** have any clue?

Each division's 3rd-6th wow that is a lot of team, 32 teams in total and only one will make it to the actual play off

IT will be 3v6 then 4v5 and then the winners will play and the winner of that goes to playoffs.

    nooooooooooooo

Every bracket has 3 teams advance. The 3rd seed through 6th seed enter a tournament and whichever team wins advances to the playoffs as the 3rd seed

A total of 24 teams advance to the playoffs

I don't like how they went from reporting the actual scores to just 1-0 wins, it messes up the standings does it not?

Why can't you just have all 3 teams advance to playoffs?

find them a replacement team. so its fair, like u did for us

We don't play a dead team next Saturday. We play GoingUp

oh i was going of what ryangi said myb but find a replacment to play rtb so its fair

i agree with this... its a three way tie for first, therefore it would mean we all take up places 1-3 with best records.
  • To be honest, Just letting all 3 teams that tied for 1st move on makes the most since for group C, and would be a time saver. Coin flip isn't really fair to the losing team as each of the 3 1st place teams deserves the spot they are in and since you planned on letting a 3rd team go on anyways with a 3 way tie for first, letting all 3 move on just makes the most since rather than having a ton of extra matches to decide the same thing.

and as for us playing a "replacement" we can, but from the looks of it other teams have already gotten a free week / win due to a no show, however we have played an actual game for every win we have.

Why? We are the only team in our bracket that hasn't had a FFW. We've had to play every team so far, while other teams in our group have had 3 wins from dead teams. TBH they should not count wins from dead teams and we would easily have first place in our group. Since we have the most legitimate wins it would make sense for us to advance and have PDF play Kanzen for the second spot. Either that or have all three of us advance and not do a 3-6 playoff. But both Kanzen and PDF have had a free win, RTB should be the only team 5-1.
  • @******: you can advance all three Group C teams and still be consistent with your ruleset, which stipulates that 3-6 seeds play in a tournament. If RTB, PDF, and Kanzen are all tied, then they are all 1 seeds, and the team with the next best record is a 4 seed. The 3-6 seeds in group C (really three teams, 4-6 seeds) play in a mini-tourney format just like the other groups, only one team gets a bye.

    Idk, just a thought.

Edit: why is 'peck-er' censored? Lol.

We've already played and beaten PDF. So we would win the head to head category for a tie between us. No reason for us to play again.

Either way, a coin flip is stupid, and so is making us play a round robin thing when all 3 of the top teams in our group have already played each other.
  • A coin flip was never a serious option, it was a joke maybe made in poor taste.

If people having issues with the timing of the round robin, then co-ordinate with the other teams when you want to play the game(s). Sat is just default.

and rtb beat you so it makes it a tie

    Kanzen beat pdf
    Pdf beat rtb
    Rtb beat Kanzen
    All have the same record.
That is a 3 way tie sir. A round robin will take place based on a win for pdf vs spray ops and a Kanzen win over goingup.

That would bring 25 teams to the playoffs. Meaning that the "third" place team and the "fourth" place team from group c would have to play a game before all the other playoff teams to determine who would move on. Which is the exact same as the group playoff situation. So this will not happen.

This is completely unfair to the replacement teams that joined in hopes of having group playoffs and having a chance to actually play more then 2 matches.
    AYCEK wrote: »

This will not happen. Rtb has played all their games, while you've had multiple forfeits. If anything it's unfair to them. Also no replacement team is going to want to waste an entire night getting beat down and having ZERO hopes of making any type of playoff. So this will not happen.

Reposting so nerds wouldn't skip over it at the bottom.
