kinda hard since mostly team are filled with s5 but u can start as sub and work your way up. Try to pub and ringing if you can, if you have any friends that play in e8 tell them to let you ring so ppl will recognize you more ( easier to find a team ), go have a look at looking for team section, see if any team is looking for player and try out good luck

Pick one gun (easiest is m4) and stick to it. If you want to be good stick to a gun and become amazing with it (ie Fallout. He rarely AK's, which means he m4s most of the time, really good shot). Call everything you see no matter if u get a frag or not. U threw a nade ct on port u call it. Be active and dedicated. Don't leave in the middle of scrims ( i do that sometimes, and it ****es my team off).AND LISTEN TO STRATS. Pretty much it, good luck

As a beginner to competitive crossfire, at least tell me the term ringing. With context clues, I am assuming 1v1ing at E8 -

Scrims are 5v5's, 1 team against another. Its generally to work on executing strats and building chemistry, etc.
If a team only has 4 from their clan, they will find a ringer to play as their 5th man. A ringer is just someone playing for a team that they're not in. -
make a tournament
like honestly i suck compared to a lot of the people in e8 yet im picked in PUGs and people want me to ring for them
nah jk, just ring for a couple of teams, or get 4 friends and just call for a 5
participate in PUGs and sht, and gl have fun -

Ringers = like a mercenary that a team asked them to play(ring) for them when the team does not have enough ppl.
There are ringers team as well ( including 5 ppl that is not in the same team ) and they want to have a scrim so they just gather and play together. -
I may be covering things someone else already went over, I didn't really read any of the responses to this yet. So, sorry if I'm beating a dead horse.
If you really want to get into this game, find a gun you're good with, and make sure it is allowed in competition. (No ZP guns, and some GP guns aren't allowed either, so check the rules) Practice as much as possible, playing pugs, or ringing, or just even going and playing death matches just to practice your aim. You probably won't just jump right onto a teams starting 5 line up, so that means you need to expose yourself to the competitive community as much as possible so people notice you. You also need to be familiar with call outs for maps, as well as how to rotate effectively. You will also need to be able to communicate well to make the call outs, and don't rage over the microphone to your teammates, it just brings the overall morale down. Also, if you don't have it already, go download mumble and ventrilo. Most teams now a days use mumble though. Here are a few BASIC terms you should be familiar with as well.
Pug: An abbreviation for Pick Up Game. This can be players from many different teams coming together just to play a practice game.
Ringer/Ringing: A ringer is a player who will help another team out who only needs one or two more players to play a scrim. This player is not a member of the team they are ringing for. The term ringing can be used as such: "Hey man I'll be on mumble in a bit, I'm ringing for some kids right now." or "We need to get a ringer so we can get this scrim rolling."
Rotate/Rotating: This is a term used to explain when players should move from one area of the map to another. It can be used as such: "Rotate to A, I see all five players pushing." This term can be used when playing GR or BL.
Call outs: The name of a specific area on the map. Call outs are used to communicate with your teammates to let them know where the other teams players are, or where they are pushing. If you die, or see another player from the other team, you should always call out where you saw them or where you died.
Scrim: A scrim is when one team plays another team. Normally both teams will have only players from THEIR teams, and no ringers.
This is just a basic list of things you should know before you get into competition. Competitive gaming, on any game, can be stressful. And if you want to be good, you need to put the time in. When you see success however, it makes the time you put in worth it. Hope this helped some what. -
If you're not familiar with the calls, here's a good resource to learn them http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=152
Keep in mind that many of the calls here may be different from what a lot of teams use, but it should help in familiarizing yourself with the maps and looking at them from a competitive angle. -
talk alot of shiit and dont be good at all and get extreamly known and have alot of ppl hate you. then cheat in wcg online qualifiers and have a bunch of kids sip haterade cuz u cheated then get picked up by the best team in the game and dodge lan.
