Z8Games welcomes OC Gaming to CrossFire with their Launch Tournament
Attention competitive CF Seekers,
We here at Z8Games are happy to see OC Gaming kick off what looks to be a great season of competitive play with an epic 2-day tournament and marathon!
We would like to take this opportunity to give everyone some info and to keep their eyes open for broadcasts and future leagues and tournaments!
The OCG Launch tournament is taking place on May 25 and 26th and will be broadcasted out of the brand new ocgleague twitch casting channel.
http://www.twitch.tv/ocgleague
We did want to address some of the statements that have been made recently on our forums about OCG. Listen for an interview coming soon with them which will help further address this, but it's worth making a few statements here.
If you'd like to read those statements please do so below. Have fun in the tournament everyone and good luck!
Z8Games Statement on recent accusations and incidents
First off, we believe in the OCG and their professional attitude towards growing the competitive scene in CrossFire. They are here for you and want to make sure their organization treats the players, the game and the competition with respect.
That is going to mean some growing pains. OCG is a brand new league with CrossFire. They are bringing their experience from other games, unlike other groups who have made their start here. That means there is going to be an element of getting used to the community and it's known players.
An incident happened recently when some issues were brought up regarding their admin group, their anti-cheat and conduct. I think that a few of our..more vocal.. members got caught up in believing many wrong things about what is going on and combined with a lack of experience dealing with our game and community resulted in some questions being raised about OCG.
Here is some factual information from us.
It doesn't matter what age you are if you want to start a legitimate business and have the means to do so. We operate in an official capacity. This means official communication channels, proposals, budgets and organization. OCG Had this experience dealing with other games. This is what was very easy about establishing this initial sponsorship.
Private Policy's and Terms of Use are very often copied from company to company and game to game. It says nothing about the person doing that. A Private Policy is kept to protect the company and users, however it operates under the condition that a company will do anything to seek out and find who is responsible for acting negatively on them.
Some incidents have happened with various hacking attempts against OCG and they were in every right to use their connections and contacts to probe as much information as possible in order to stop this attack. In this particular case, OCG was extorted into giving out information under this pretense. In an attempt to discern the attackers, information was gathered and shared and they had every right to do so. Especially when the information was shared under a guise of trust in order to help do the right thing.
Many of the competitive players share information across many different people. Skype accounts are easily obtained and shared for malicious and trolling purposes. No one can be trusted to keep your skype information the moment you share it with another unknown person across the net. Especially a CrossFire player.
Additionally, there were some concerns about the Anti Cheat. We are very grateful, especially after the fiasco and drama caused by the CF Stars, that OCG is able to use an Anti Cheat.
As with all AC's they are growing programs that need to be constantly updated. OCG's AC was used in other games and had received no complaints and no issues about stability or security. That is until it hit the CF Community.
Two things resulted from that, 1, the paranoia within the competitive CF community about hacking and about players who hack and the immediate attempt to try and hack on client kicked in.
2, security issues were brought to light based on some of the above and on other reported programming ability by some other players.
Both of these are being addressed by the OCG. They are creating a more stable AC, a more secure AC and one that is constantly updated with the latest detection capabilities for the hacks in CF.
The fact remains however, there was encryption on datascans sent from the AC to the OCG Admins. And outside parties were not able to access any scanned information. The fact that it was taking google chrome app data was simply a scan of what was installed as an application within chrome. It was done that way because of the scanning settings within the AC, it was just some general checks. And OCG won't be sharing this information with anyone, the time they were pushed to share was because there were under the belief that someone was interfering with the operation of their business.
They intend on increasing the security and making it more compatible and making it even better at scanning for hacks.
The fact that they have an anti cheat and want to grow competition within the game should be an immediate indication that competitive CrossFire is a sustainable outlet for players. There is so much growth potential that no one should be giving up on it, or groups like OCG.
So with that, thanks for reading some of our insights. We continue to help OCG learn from it's past and add advice where we can to help them continue great competitive events.
We ask that you, as the gamer, give OCG a chance and give them your trust and your constructive feedback because everyone ultimately is here for you!

Z8Games will be supporting this tournament with ZP which will be given to the players in the days following the tournament once the winners have been confirmed by OCGaming.
For the Mouse Pads, they will be mailed by G4Box to players located in North America (should a team from there win). Teams outside NA will have additional points added to their accounts.
OCG has had some player meetings and taken plenty of questions from the players, the rule sets have been announced and discussed, and further questions about the tournament can be directed to the staff at OCG and their website here. For the Mouse Pads, they will be mailed by G4Box to players located in North America (should a team from there win). I supported OCG to join Crossfire and wanted them to help out.
But neither OCG Evan nor Z8 has explained why he gave out private data collected by their AC to people that are not affiliated with either group.
So what if I lied my way into his trust to find out some information. They still gave out information when they clearly stated on their AC Agreement that no data will be shared. OCG should have known better than that.
As for the "other games" that supported OCG, I have some facts regarding that as well. Many players from other games have the same issue that we have pointed out (trusting the AC, trusting OCG in general). So I have no clue where this "no issue from other games" is coming from.
I'm sorry if I made a fool out of OCG but there are lies being stacked against their favor, something has to give and they failed on their promise.
I am pretty sure if Z8Games didn't follow their own policies, things would escalate quickly.
All I want now from OCG is an apology to the community for going against their own policy and sharing data. Owning up to your mistakes is a part of life and business. I expect you to man up and stop with the lies.
Finally, I would like to say that no league should be attempting this without being prepared. OCG took a step to grow but got themselves in something that they were not ready for. They have alot to improve on. If they can learn from their mistakes then there is hope at the end of the tunnel. -

This discounts everything you "discovered" by talking to them. (I won't go into a full analogy, but imagine a police officer telling a defendant "I am your lawyer; talk to me".)
Furthermore, Saidin addresses your point quite nicely.[GM]Saidin wrote: »Some incidents have happened with various hacking attempts against OCG and they were in every right to use their connections and contacts to probe as much information as possible in order to stop this attack. While I disagree with the way OCG handled the situation, they are a new organization. Mistakes will be (and have been) made. Would an apology be appropriate? Perhaps.
However, it would be an apology wasted. The vocal minority has decided to troll, flame, and otherwise attempt to destroy a genuine attempt to reach out to the community. Because of sheer egotism and spite, yet another organization is being harassed for reaching out to us.
So what if the host of the league is 17 -- so what if the host is 12? As long as he or she is willing to work with the community, and to make an effort, age does not matter. So what if the host has ran failed events in the past? Past failures are (hopefully) lessons learned.
Throughout this entire circus act that the vocal minority have put on, they are the only ones acting juvenile.
It's pathetic, and it's disappointing.

At no point did you attempt to make any sense.
Evan saw me as a friend and someone to talk to. In a way he got scammed/deceived by me and now Evan trying to cover it up with even more lies. The fact the he lies to SAIDIN and Z8Games is enough.
When I first started talking to him I wanted to help him out, but after awhile I noticed that his stories werent adding up. When ever someone asked him a question he would never answer it as it was asked, trying to ignore it.
Now "d00d" answer these following questions with a yes or no.
1) Did Evan trust me?
2) Did Evan give out private data?
3) Did Evan go against the "No data will be shared" AC Policy?
I don't care who the person is, how old they are, their race, sex, religion, etc. I accepted OCG as a potential league for Crossfire. I voted for them. I wanted to help OCG and I came close to being a staff member but after all of the lies and unprofessionalism, I didn't want to take part. -

It's not the fact that he trusted you, that's simplifying it. Ellu's point is that you are in a much different position than a typical community member, which made it a crap ton easier for you to deceive him. His argument is that because of this position difference, the fact that he "trusted you" becomes a lot less relevant and a lot more on you. Whether that's valid is what you need to argue.
If I told people I was an official member of the Z8 Games staff, it would be a lot easier for them to believe me than if essentially anybody else on the forums told them that. The same is applied to you; arguably to a lesser extent, but that's what need to be (in)validated.
EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that Ellu wasn't saying that Evan was faultless, just that the extremity of the situation was being exaggerated/the response was over-the-top.Ellustrial wrote: »While I disagree with the way OCG handled the situation, they are a new organization. Don't turn this into irrelevant ad hominem. Whether JP should be trusted based of his recent actions isn't relevant to his position/argument at this point. -

I never told him that I was any part of Z8Games or G4Box. He foolishly assumed that I was a part of them because I know Saidin a bit. I helped him to get noticed, to get a response quicker with Z8.
I would still be in good terms with OCG and Evan if he didn't lie.x3BlackCat wrote: »now question for you. why would you do something as low as gaining someones trust and keep building that trust up just to turn around and stab them right in the back? this just shows how much you can be trusted.
I am not asking anyone to trust me. I cant force anyone to nor give out information to me.
I think I proved my honestly with the FG LAN. If people didn't like something, I said I would change it and I did. The only promise I didn't keep was the prize money but that is a whole different story due to an individual incident. -

Well I would hope that if you have chatlogs that supported your position you would have presented them to the relevant people, however since nobody here constitutes "relevant people" besides Saidin, it seems to be a waste of time to discuss it without them. -

How can I disprove what they assumed with chatlogs?
Wouldn't they need chatlogs to prove it I did instead? -

No, people are assuming that I told him that I was a part of Z8. If Evan has a chatlog/evidence, then let him present it. -

I'd like to just further address a couple of points before this thread goes away.
First off, I have read multiple chat logs where you have implied certain players as being hackers. In addition to that you have specifically asked for information in an attempt to help stop those hackers. Even gone as far as asking for that information to help the situation by trying to take legal action or to provide that information to other people etc.
To use your position as a recognizable member of the community for the sole purposes of trying to prove that they would share information against their own policy is just plain not right. It shows a very low level of trust on your behalf.
Saying one thing and then telling people it's not your fault they took it the wrong way is not how to go about treating people.
I also know for a fact that after the LAN you came to me and said something along the lines of how there were so many people messaging you on the forums for game-related issues like lost accounts etc. That you felt like you were a mod or someone who worked here and that you wanted to help them.
You then also took matters in to your own hands by attempting to contact incorrect departments of Smilegate by telling them you were a manager with Frost Gaming and you wanted to volunteer to go to China on their dollar in order to volunteer to help.
To tie these points together. Calling yourself a Frost Gaming LAN Manager, having people assume that you are an official with Frost Gaming, then subsequently saying "I never said I was a manager with Frost Gaming" is not how to approach a business partnership. This is the kind of situation that happened here.
Lastly, since early April OCG has contacted me through private messages. In fact Evan, on multiple occasions sent me messages like "have you had a chance to look at our proposal" and "any word yet on our proposal". We were busy with setting up the CrossFire stars at the time and I had to put him on hold. But we were able to communicate and set up a tournament without your help or counsel.
I would just like to leave this on this note. Your enthusiasm with the game, events and with trying to stop potential hackers and malicious users is great. There is also nothing wrong with trying to help a new organization or help people grow and learn from mistakes. However the conduct and direction you took with your actions was not the correct one, and now you continue to go on about these points, which ultimately created threads and posts like this.
In the end, we're continuing forward with the OCG Launch Tournament. We're looking forward to seeing teams compete, and we're looking forward to seeing legit players use their AC to enforce legitimate competition. OCG knows improvements can be made, and are working towards all those avenues. No more needs to be said on the matter by any party involved.
I'll be joining in some interviews with OCG over the next while and I'll further address some talking points and advice for improvement at the time. OCG is constantly listening to the feedback from the players and are also making positive changes as they go forward.
This thread will remain closed for the time being as nothing more needs to be said on the matter.
