How do I get into the competitive scene?

Posting a thread in our Looking For Team section outlining what you're looking for is a good start. If you aren't already aware of them, familiarizing yourself with what the current general conventions are (e.g. the standard weapon restrictions, common maps, etc.) would help greatly.
Another thing would be to play in PUGs (Pick Up Games), which are essentially just organized pubs with voice chat and league rules. You can find more information on these by browsing the competitive forum section for relevant threads (e.g. http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=249369)
Basically just try to get to know what's going on, and make some form of name for yourself. Also know that finding a team that is made of people you mesh well with can be fairly important for your own enjoyment :P -

Take the competitive scene off that pedestal please. Just play in echo 8 when you can, keep an eye out on the forums for drafts/teams picking up, and just try to get in with a group of people who play echo 8. Even though you're just starting out, I'm sure you can find some people within the community at your level.
