CF mods are seriously anal

closing every single forum thread about the whole famous cheating controversy is pretty useless, it actually promotes people to spam your forums even more.

i would like to also point out that the CF team could be defending famous because it could ruin their image and make them look bad if he was truly cheating.

i still believe that right now famous isn't completely innocent and/or completely guilty of cheating. that's all i have to say

  • It doesn't matter what the situation is, Moderators will continue going about their job. In this specific case, Saidin has given the community a very long acknowledgement about the current situation and has noted that we would be moderating as we are. If people continue spamming it will simply affect their forum accounts, and possibly even their in-game accounts depending on the severity.

The community was given a chance to have their discussion about the topic in Saidin's thread, and they proved to not be able to maturely handle it.

Saidin has given a very detailed post about why famous has the verdict he does, and that is how it will stay unless further evidence that can be fully proved as to him cheating comes along.

We will continue on moderating this situation, it's why we are here with the game. We respect the opinion of others, but to an extent and when this extent is broken as it has been, we must deal with it.

If you have a problem with how this situation has been handled, feel free to contact Saidin through private messages to discuss it with him.

BUT the flaw in your way of handling this situation is unbelievable cruel. By affecting their account in game and on the forums is like the government in society arresting people for speaking what is on their minds. they should be allowed to post what they want up to a certain extent on the forums. IF it is truly spam and not a valid point then it is understandable to delete BUT in my opinions, the mods are being incredibly anal about what people are posting on the forums. This situation is serious because you are letting someone get away with something like this. IF he is cheating, not have you guys ruined your reputation but made a fool out of Mav who took time and effort into providing enough evidence to prove that he could be potentially cheating. JUST because saidin has made a statement about this situation does not unnecessary mean that it's true.

thats my opinion though on this situation and i will continue to believe that famous is potentially cheating UNTIL there are cold hard facts proving that he is not.

Last time I checked, you can voice your opinion to an extent on the forums. There's just guidelines to contain that 'extent.'

    Also:

-a lot of what saidin said was wrong
-denxi didn't even go over the blatant clips
-famous didn't use any hammertime clips in his video :(

in addition to this information, one or a few examples does not completely prove him innocent. Mav has provide SO much more then what saidin has provided so, unless they are able to prove all or majority of those wrong, i stand by Mav.

Yah, I really don't think carbon deserves to go to China to compete for $50,000 but saidin's not gonna change his mind.

Sucks for hammertime, but I'm sure it will be fun to watch famous choke at lan

Ease up a tad here. As to my current knowledge no in game accounts have been affected as of yet, however it is always a possibility on the forums no matter the situation, it just depends on the severity. While I cannot speak for every moderator here, everything that is closed/deleted should be done so based on the Forum Rules & Guidelines and the current situation. Each thread/post is dealt with somewhat differently depending on the discretion of which Moderator has dealt with it.

I have been watching fellow Moderators deal with the current situation and have been following the situation myself. While I will not be voicing my opinion about the famous situation I do agree with most the actions my fellow team-members have taken during this whole situation.

Some members were respectful in posting their voice about the situation, however there were a few that went over the boarder multiple times and ruined it for everyone else. Sadly, it gets to a point where if there are enough people making it as bad as it got, we must be more strict with our moderation policies and end up having to moderate most everything posted about the situation.

I understand your frustration, but understand we do what we do for a reason. We gave a chance for the community to share their voice respectfully and debate with each other, but it got out of hand. Right now, we need to see this situation cool down before allowing more discussion or it is only going stay as heated as it is.

Keep in mind you may still voice your opinion and thoughts to Saidin and others through means such as Private Messages. As for right now, public discussion only keeps going in the wrong direction.

I hope you understand why we are doing what we are doing, and hopefully this is also a lesson for all of us, players, moderators, and administrators, should something like this ever happen again.
  • Yah, "brb recording with a toaster and cheating to go to China" was such an inappropriate comment that deserved a "trolling-major" infraction!

his score will determine whether he cheats or not. If he's bottom fragging then that just proves Mav's point and i'll be expecting an apology from Saidin to Mav for making him look this bad.

Not entirely true. Depends on the subject matter. And who you are. I get post closed very quickly, because I get to the point on most things, No MOD wants to see. Now If I post a gamers name, for any reason I get my post shut down. If I post about something very wrong with the game, I get shut down. Always with the lame excuse{ This post has run its course.} Then I see stupid post that run forever.
So yeah, its does matter who you are and what you are saying....

Again, I cannot speak for each individual Moderator, but everything was done by each Moderator's discretion. If you do not agree with a specific Moderator's moderation, bring it up to them or Saidin directly through private message. I would suggest however to do so after this situation dies down. Anything a Moderator does can always be reversed.

For now, play nice and no one will have an issue with any of the Moderation staff.

His score at LAN will prove absolutely nothing. Not too sure if you know what proof is.

Also, your comparison of someone being arrested for speaking their minds and a post being deleted is absurd lol. First off, we live in a free country, where you are allowed to speak your mind. In the land of the forums, it is not a free country, and there are specific rules that the people who use them must follow. If you don't agree with the rules, no one is asking you to stay.

Although I do agree that the we should be able to discuss the situation, but the problem is not the mods, its the people who are talking out of their asses and acting immature. If the mods decided to be useful, they could delete specific posts and responses rather than entire threads, but that's neither here nor there.

Maybe z8 needs to modify their rules a little bit to accommodate to things that are actually relevant in the CF competitive community. As fascinating as I found peterdoe's question about UK players, I find the situation with one of the most known players in our game a tad more interesting and relevant.. but which post gets deleted?

From what I have seen from my Moderator account there have been numerous earlier attempts at trying to delete single posts during this situation, however it got to a certain point where there were so many, and so few Moderators, that sometimes full threads had to be deleted. As it is we try to let specific MODs take care of the majority of the competitive section and that is a very little amount of Moderators out of what is already a very small Moderating team. Moderating is a volunteering position and to that we do have outside things we need to do with our lives. (Education, Jobs, Sleeping, etc). Sometimes Moderators have to decide between leaving what should be blatantly be deleted/closed and getting rid of it entirely.

I agree, it would be nice if we were able to Moderate it to that extent, sadly however currently it seems like we just can't handle it that way. When we deleted single posts, people just reposted them anyway.

Suggestions are always welcomed as to such things like this. It is one of the reasons that specific Moderators are found here the most, because we do need to treat the competitive community somewhat different than the rest. You guys are dedicated to your voices and while that is a good thing, some of the Moderators are better suited to being with you guys. (Denxi, Iceman, Polleus, dot). I'd suggest if you have some ideas as to how we can better moderate the competitive community, to suggest them once this situation calms down.
  • private forums with specific rules....

competitive players can't discuss w/o resorting to flaming posts or abiding by said forum rules as well as using alt forum accounts to also try to hide themselves...

all forces a mod's hand to be "anal" about it.

Dude, we don't need z8games to prove that xfam0usx's legit. That kid cheats !!!!!!!!
  • Look at [!]nstinct vs HammerTime in 2011 compared to Carbon vs HammerTime in 2013.

Serves them right for losing their edge.

You act like it's only the competitive section that does this. If anything it's worse in the barracks.

exactly, hammertime deserves what they got even if famous was cheating
  • The answer has been given. The reason why we close and delete the threads is because the point is moot. We have been told to clean up any threads on the subject regardless. We're doing what we were told. You got your answer. Just because you don't like it, doesn't give you the right to keep spamming about it. Sorry.
