This thread will contain all the information you need to know about the Cross Fire Global League. Hosted by Smilegate in China, 2013.
The schedule for this tournament and team selection process is going to go fast. We'll be updating this from time to time so be sure to check back.
First up some venue and event information. Please note some of these details are tentative.
What?
The Cross Fire Global League is an international tournament hosted by Smilegate, the developers of Cross Fire
Where?
The Tournament will be located in China
When?
The Tournament takes place June 1st and 2nd.
How?
Each publisher and location of Cross Fire will select One (1) team to represent that version. Each version will have their own selection process and requirements within.
Who?
Cross Fire NA/UK will be sending 1 team determined from a selection process which has already started and will last up until April 25th.
We have to have our team selected by April 26th. Which doesn't give us a lot of time to set this up.
Our selection process will look like this:
4 teams will be chosen to compete in a single elimination tournament starting ~April 21st.
These 4 teams will be chosen by various other tournaments and leagues currently running and that have run in the past.
The 4 teams will be chosen through the following:
Note that Winners of the FG LAN, Season 1 of CFL and Hammertime will not be participating in the Invite Tournament.
Prizes?
There will be cash prizes awarded to multiple teams, the numbers are yet to be determined at the moment.
Additional Important information
Players MUST be legally allowed and ready to travel to China. This follows as the same rules as it did for WCG.
Visas will be required under the players own power. Costs for visas will most likely be compensated after the fact.
Obviously you need to be able to travel some time between a couple days before June 1st and a couple days after June 1st.
Per diem and travel expenses have not been finalized yet.
Special Note about Passports and Visas
We now know 3 of the 4 teams that will be competing for this illustrious spot to head to China for the CF Global League.
As we get ready for the Invite Tournament and the 4th spot to compete we would like to remind players that to travel to China you will need a passport and a visa to enter the country. It can take multiple weeks to get a passport here in Canada, and it can also take up to a week to get a Visa.
Canadian Traveling information to China.
American Traveling information to China.
The Publisher of each region (G4Box in this case) will be covering the Visa cost after the tournament for the team that will be attending the trip. Proper receipts will be required.
Stay tuned to this thread for the list of teams which will be invited to the mini tournament and how you can sign your team up to participate in the final "first come first serve" spots.

lol ht getting a free spot and they don't even main this game.
Just to address the point being made here and the subsequent insinuation that some people might be upset because they won't have a chance to compete.
Hammertime have acted as ambassadors for our game for multiple years now. Their WCG Finishes and experience have given them the tools and ability to compete in this one.
Regardless of what game you "main". There have been ample opportunities to compete in Cross Fire.
For example, the CFL had signups dating back to the end of January and even though the FG LAN is slightly restrictive as far as needing transportation to join, it has also been open for months and open to everyone.
We feel that these 2 competitions have given the public, and more importantly, those who want to see competition grow in CF, ample opportunity to be involved.
That boils down to this:
If the argument is, Hammertime doesn't main CF, but I'm upset because I won't get a chance to play. Then our answer to this is above. If you were dedicated and determined enough to be involved with the Competitive scene in CF then you would have already been involved and already be competing and already standing a good chance at making it through to compete for this chance at CF GL.
If not, well then you haven't done as well as Hammertime when it came to WCG competitions in the last 2 years. And Hammertime deserves the opportunity to compete once again.
WCG Has been our biggest stage, and Hammertime has been the team to go the deepest. That seems good enough. And if this momentum is any indication, they stand to face some serious competition from the winners of the LAN, the CFL and our invite only tournament!
Sorry for the lengthy answer on this, but I feel it's important to address this fully so there are no questions or faults or fingers being pointed. -
When will the invite teams be announced? and who will they be determined? I feel like 2nd at LAN should get a spot.
Pretty sure 2nd at LAN will for sure get you an invite to the invite tournament... since First place get a spot as one of the 4 team for CFGL qualifiers, makes sense no? -
