When will Something Be Done??

Myself and my son of 9 plays this game how ever I think I will have to stop him form doing so because of all the foul language that this company is letting continue. I have told these people that i will report them all they say oh a few days off big deal!!

I think you guys should rethink your policy on foul language. May be a much longer period of banning like a month or perm ban might help to reduce the chances of this continuing.

  • This is unfortunate. Currently we cannot do much about the chat filter. People in every game online always find a way past the filter. If they bother you or your son type /i <userid> or press esc and block chat. As for those pictures please PM them to GM Saidin and they will be dealt with.
  • It's good to see a concerned adult worrying about the moral safety of his son. Good parent, but I'm 14 so it may not matter what I say much.

Anyway, this has been going on for awhile. People act immature, swear, and whatever just to get other's concerned and angry and what not. It CANNOT be helped. We DO have a censor that works great, but people easily bypass it.

But, honestly, a game with guns and possibly violence? Of course you'll see/hear people swear and what not.

GM's try their best to keep this game safe and having a friendly community, but sometimes, thing's like that cannot be helped.
  • Thanks for the ScreenShots i am not a mod but i'll tell you this in my mind, The language will keep getting out of hand no matter what they do. yes you report then they will handle it but they will have to much to handle. It's better off telling them to just STFU theres little kids who play. Some parents don't care what there kids do and in the long run they will pay for it in College and Getting a job. They will take these into Hand and handle those people in those pics. But Handling all the cursing will never stop and it'll keep getting out of hand. Thats my Optionion
  • yeah that does suck because im only 12 and i think its horrible
  • I'll tell you right now I bet 90% of those users using foul language ingame are youngings like 10 years old trying to make themself cool by e-raging somone on a game. Thats why i always respond with yeah you think your cool by cussing at somone over the net then i say thanks for the SS your being reported.
  • I can understand people getting mad and vent but it is the people who spam it are the ones who need handled and harshly!! I would think after 3 or 4 times of making a charters over and over
losing money they would stop it.
  • We feel you. And those kids will grow up to be people who look for a job on the street cause they have no Respect
  • I can understand people getting mad and vent but it is the people who spam it are the ones who need handled and harshly!!

It cannot be helped Turbo. Well, what am I saying, it can... there is away to reduce spam by putting a person in spam timeout after typing the same message 'xx' in a row.
  • Sorry, but exposing a little kid to ANY part of the internet will eventually result in bad language/images. It's just the way it is.

Your letting your son play a shooting game, and your complaining about foul language. Seems odd to me.
  • Welcome to the internet, folks. No matter how much is added to the chat filter people will always find new combinations to get around it. Unless of course we get something like Runescape and turn every sentence, vulgar or not, into ???? ???? ????.
  • raging all over the place its almost normal on these days

but its our foult not the Z8 foult!

ppl just dont have a good behavior they are anti socials!

ROFL. Rs. Those were the days.
  • Wow first post for myself. Hmm idk why but what is it... should a 9 yr old be playing this? lmao cmon man. Sure u wana connect with your kid but go throw the baseball or football around instead. Kids that play any game, halo 3 etc etc THIS lol, generally dont grow up all that well since they'll more than likely develope a addiction. Soo its obvious what to do.
  • Didn't read if it's already suggested but - block the chat!
  • it is your foult , first of all , YOU ARE wrong since this game is not for 9 years old player.

It is for 16 and up only . Foul language is depend on the players and you can switch to another room if you don't like the other . It 's just the way of people expressing themself , if u play for fun then click irgnored it , but u play seriously , then accept it .
  • Only thing you can do is block the chat. There is nothing else to do. Perm ban for insults? Nobody would be playing anymore. Everybody already said something like "What a crap". Since crap is in the filter, it's an insult too. You can improve the filter, but it won't help. It's not only in Crossfire, it's in every game. ;)

true and the game is rated T
  • This is a T rated game.
Most people by the age of 13 have heard many words. They let some of the words slide since it is nothing too bad for someone of that age. However, you have control over your 9 year old. He is not supposed to be playing this game but you allow him too. If you have a problem with the language, simply not allow him to play it.
That still isn't working? I knew it wouldn't. Either block other peoples chat or just leave the room. There are many options that you yourself can do instead of having the GM's add more coding into the game to fix a minor issue when they could be dealing with the hackers, events, questions or concerns, etc.

Bottom line, you can do many things to avoid this issue, don't make the GM's do it for you.
  • Should a nine year child really be playing a Teen rated First Person Shooter game?

No one really looks at the ratings anymore anyways.
  • well u could crack down on short form and words that are bypassed

Sorry, guy, but I'm ganna have to go with a good portion of what's been said: This game itself isn't meant for 9 year-olds. You're playing a game that is meant for 16 and up. A large portion of those doing all the swearing, anyway, is the other little kiddies that probably shouldn't be playing this, either. (Sorry to the dude who's 14, I'm sure you're cool, this is just a broad over-view kind of thing.)

In the end, its up to you as a parent to properly deal with this. Teach your kid that while, yes, THOSE people are using that word, that's not something intellectual. And he needs to not copy them. If you feel its more than you want him to deal with, then you need to pull him off the game, and keep him away from that which you find to be negative on his upbringing. It might be best to keep him away from /all/ online FPSs until you feel his age is high enough to intellegently tolerate the language. You're not ganna find a Mensa community on any of these.

In the end, its up to you, not the GMs, to sensor your child from language you find inappropriate, or teach them the rights and wrongs of swearing, and see to it they learn the right way to go about things like most kids.
  • Yea i know what u mean turbo. I played a Ghost Mode match yesterday and there was so much foul language being used it almost made me puke. I can't even repeat what they were saying even if i had the screenshots i wouldn't post them, they were sooo disgusting. I told them to stop but they thought i offended them and they cursed me out too. We tried to kick them but nothing happened. It makes me feel bad to think that younger children actually play this game that can sometimes be filled with such rude pigs!
  • Internet is bad for little kids if you dont want them exposed.

its so easy to find anything on here and any age..

    think about it >.>

just hope your kid dont turn out the way most do on the internet :(

lol GM is fun, you find alot of gay people in there

well they say they want to F*** me lol so i just tell them im sorry im not gay XD.
  • yea but the people i ran into didn't even know if they were gay or straight, they would say they were a guy and then they would tell u they were a girl 2 mins later. They were basically trying to **** anybody they could. There are definetly some sick twisted conversations going on in GM. lol, if thats what u wanna call them. rofl
  • Easy solution:

    Go in options
    Block all chat

Only way to not expose him to the horrors of words that society deem foul or inproper.
