Well making people happy leads to more money. If silenced and cool looking weapons were available in the GP shop, what would be left for ZP users? ZP guns do have a slight advantage over the regular weapons, but it's actually not too great. You can be just as good if not better using a GP weapon over a ZP weapon. -
I agree that most good weapons are ZP ones for the reasons stated above.
Still, there are some good weapons available for GP:
Pistol: Deagle
SMG: M12, MP5
Rifle: XM8, Scar Light, TAR-21, QBZ-95
Sniper: AWM
MG: Colt M16A3
Shotgun: Dual Desperados
However, those weapons are all bound to a certain rank and cost more money than you actually have at the beginning. Plus, as you need to reach a certain rank, by the time you can get the weapon you probably became impatient and have already wasted your GP on crate guns.
Still, when I started, we didn't have the whole badge system that gets you money for the first few badges. Also, there were no events like today which give you EXP (to reach the rank for a certain gun faster), GP and even crates (which have a small chance of winning you a gun but at least give some GP to you).
If you really want to get good equipment, I suggest the following:
1. Get yourself 100.000 ZP (about 60 EUR or 80 USD) ONCE!
2a. If you're the risky type, spend it on ZP crates. Even though you will most likely not win anything, it will get you lots of GP.
2b. If you're the safe type, get yourself GP plus items from the mall. 6 times 120.000 GP (720.000 GP in total) cost you 86.400 ZP. Then you can either spend the remaining ZP (13.600 ZP) on crates or get yourself another 100.000 GP (by buying two times the 40.000 GP item and by once buying the 20.000 GP item). After that, you have 800 ZP left, which you can spend on an extra mission.
3. Because you bought 100.000 ZP, you get 10.000 Bonus Points. For those, you can get yourself one of the bonus guns. I'd suggest either M4 Silver or AK silver (both cost 8900 BP; NEVER! buy the Scar Heavy camo! That gun is crap!). From the rest of the Bonus Points, you can get urself GP crates (for Deagle camo, Anaconda Adv and AUG camo), a spray or a namecard.
4. If you followed 2b), you now have at least 720.000 GP at your disposal. If you followed 2a), you should have about 200.000 GP. DO NOT BUY CRATES FROM THEM! Instead just use them to buy EXP+ items (yes, there are even EXP+ items for GP!) to reach the rank you need to get your favourite guns from the GP item shop.
5. As soon as you reach the ranks you need, get yourself the guns and enjoy them!
The most important thing is to resist the huge temptation of buying crates. Yes, you might win a gun with the first 10 crates you buy, BUT: it is more likely that you spend ENORMOUS AMOUNTS of GP and get nothing (for example, I have spent about 400.000 GP on both the QBZ-camo and the Anaconda Adv and DIDNT GET THEM!)
IF YOU FOLLOW THIS METHOD, YOU GET ONE GOOD GUN FOR SURE. If you then resist the temptation of wasting your ZP and GP on the Black Market, you even should have more than enough money to get you at least one good gun of each class.

There are actually many good guns in the GP item shop that most people use without difficulty.
The reason why GP item shop guns are worse than the ZP crate ones are because ZP costs money and GP doesn't. Obviously a gun that you pay with real cash would need to be of a higher standard than one that was obtained for free.
Also that is the reason GP crates were created. People without zp would still have the opportunity to get a gun with a better status without paying for zp.
Some good guns from the GP shop that I can recommend are
-
M4a1
-
Ak-47
-
Tar-21
Keep trying to find a gun you like and I guarantee once you get used to it you will not see the hugest difference between zp guns and gp ones anymore.
