Raising the incentive to report cheating players.

While Xtrap is doing a (relatively) good job of keeping cheaters out of the game, the manual reports are still a major factor in banning cheaters. Unlike most other games Cross Fire actually has a decent way of doing so, other AAA titles like Battlefield or Call Of Duty completely lack that option, but there's still things Z8 and G4Box could do to increase the incentive to report players suspected of cheating, and helping the game stay as free of cheaters as possible.

Rewarding players for reporting:

As of now there's no reward or incentive to report a player other than to get rid of that single cheater. I suggest a 1000 ZP bonus after the replay have been reviewed and the player has been confirmed to be a cheater. This is a small amount of ZP but it is still enough to give players a reason to report cheaters, and at the same time it is not big enough to remove any significant income for Z8 Games. You also only get the reward if the player has been confirmed to be a cheater, and therefor it is impossible to send in multiple replays in order to get free ZP.

Making it easier to report:

Right now it is too cumbersome to actually do the reporting. More often than not you save the replay after the game and forget about it. Making it easier to send in the report would increase the amount of cheaters reported. Adding a function to send the replay from the client would to this very efficiently. There's already a way to deposit ZP from the client so adding this feature shouldn't be that difficult.

  • I agree. Also, the last replay should be saved automatically. Right now, when the room crashes or you get kicked (for being good), you can't report any cheaters since CF doesn't save the replay. There used to be "TempReplay.cfr", why did that feature get removed? Please readd that.

Edit: forgot to mention: I agree with the part about making it easier to report. I'm not really sure about the rewarding, probably better not to have that.
  • Incentives such as zp/gp/items etc. would just cause massive uploading of even more bogus "hacker" reports then they already get in a day. Like all the replays people have supposedly uploaded of me and other skilled players who were allegedly "hacking".
  • Disagree.

    Rewarding players for reporting:

What if my brother made alts to hack and I kept reporting him over and over? Unlimited ZP.

    Yep

    1. There could be loopholes where you have hundreds of replays of the same hacker and you would have unlimited ZP.
    2. Z8 isn't made of money.
    3. There would even more spam/fake reports.
    4. Reporting people to make the game better is for our benefit and happiness.
  • incentives for hack reports=more hackers

    ie:

    -Make a jillion alts.
-Load up alts with another PC, over a different IP.
-Main acct joins the alt acct ingame.
    -Hack with the alt.
    -Save replay with main acct.
    -Upload Replay.
    -Get paid nukka.
  • Just look what happened when the forum post ribbon was released.
For 3 days intill it was removed nearly ever other post was random spam or a simple "I agree" or "I disagree" statement. (Even months after its removal, new forumers came on randomly posting for it)

Imagine what would happen when they give out a reward for reports.
Thousands of noobs are just going to send random replays with just the intent of being rewarded. It already takes a week or two for support to get to a report, do you really want to increase that time to months?

The problem isn't that people aren't reporting, it is that Z8 can't get through all the reports they already get in a timely manner.
  • Why should Z8 reward you for reporting hackers when you guys are the ones who complain about them all the time?

And if you really wanted to report a hacker then you wouldn't forget the replay nor would you be lazy about it.
  • 1000 zp? 1 euro each succesful report? Damn good, but. This isn't "Take my money" area here. This is business. If this would happen, players report every player they suspect as a hacker. SPAM TICKETS

This wouldn't change the amount of players people think cheat, it would merely reward them for reporting those that they actually do suspect of cheating. Clearly you can't take "If this would happen, players report every player they suspect as a hacker" as something negative.

^. If z8 can barely go through the reports they are receiving currently what makes you think they can get through the thousands more (many illegetimate) that will come in.
  • The problem here is bias.
The reviewer, the reporter and the cheater will all be biased if theres money involved.

Reviewer is employed by G4 and realizes that ZP costs money.
He'll be more inclined to reject reports - and, in case its a friend, approve even though its questionable.

The reporter will obviously report as many people as possible, hoping that the reviewer isn't paying attention all the time.

The cheater will usually be the same person as the reporter, cheating on alts to gain ZP.

    Nobody benefits.

really a great idea as i see hackers alot but get lazy to report them but if there is a reward even if it is 2000 gp it will be a good reason to make me report the hacker ^_^

i get lazy all the time because i see nearly 10 hackers per day or something i think if there a really small reward even if it is 500 gp it will be enough to make me wanna report those 10 hackers :))
oh and about alt reporting z8games may make 2 hacking tickets per day or something
  • I agree on this but the last time someone suggested this someone flips out and said its to much work for the person who watches the replays..

but yes i support this! :D

    ZP costs money.

Z8 will never get a break. They'll constantly be calling the ZP factory to have fresh ZP minted ;)
  • Or: Just add a system in-game (Like AVA) where you can just press [Report a Hacker] and it opens a screen in-game with everyones names. Then you'd click on it and another one would show up showing Options for what your reporting him for (i.e walling, aimbotting etc.) You'd press it and press okay, and it'd automatically save the Replay at the end of the game and add it to the report:

Here's the kicker: Everytime someone files a false report then they'd Get deducted 1,000gp. If he doesn't have 1,000 gp then you could make it so all of gp he gets in matches he doesn't get until the debt is payed.

    Just my thinking.

and no. I'm merely using AVA as an example because it has a system like this but it doesn't Have the deductions for false reports. :)

I like the idea as well, but I wouldn't suggest a zp bonus. It takes away from Z8 for having to essentially give away their profit items which in any case that profit may only be about 1-3% of their revenue. it might be easier to have a 1000-2500 GP incentive because its in the game and not actually generating z8 games' money (its an ingame currency only and doesn't deal with RL money/ has no real value other than to get you some of the weapons that would normally take you a little longer to get in the first place.)... failed the quote

well z8 would see that though.
you cant play on both at the same time.
unless you get a friend to play on the hackers account or main.
