Things that need to be said and heard - Part 4
Indeed the itch to create another one has returned. As I have asked in all of the issues before please keep it clean and constructive. This is more of an explanation of the things that I do in order to influence more people to possibly think the same way
I. The hundredth-monkey effect
I. The hundredth-monkey effect
- People sometimes ask me why I continue to hold a positive attitude about this community when so many things are apparently wrong with it. You know what I tell them? I do it to set an example for others to follow. I try to instill in people I interact with on this forum the attitude that nothing is unrecoverable, nothing is impossible. Set an example for others even when they spit in your face. Be positive and caring towards others and your actions will influence others. This all may not happen right away, but it will happen.
- The logic: When you have enough people behaving in a certain way, the right way, then that becomes the "norm" or the standard. So much that it becomes obvious to everyone when such standards are being violated. The problem in this community is the fact that the standard has become something of a negative aspect. It is normal to be negative and it is normal to complain and bend/stretch/break the rules. I remember when people were astonished at how much I wanted to help this community. It shouldn't have been a shock, it should have been normal.
- Long-time users in this community, if you have such a strong passion for this game why do only a few of you stand out and try to help? I challenge you to do better. Be that example that will influence others to do more right than wrong. Be that example that will influence others to act in a positive manner, rather than a negative manner. Will you accept my challenge? Time will tell.
- I have myself been guilty of not using such a rule. I have not always been the most friendly and courteous in my posts and for that I apologize. Even in the face of blatant disregard for rules, one should be friendly and courteous to the user or you will only push them to continue that path.
- Everyone should be treated in a friendly manner, without regards to race, age, etc. Would you like to be treated like crap in a nice restaurant? How about by your co-workers? Do you like being treated with disrespect? Hostility? How likely are you to return to that place if you are being treated in such a negative manner? How likely would someone act in a positive manner in these forums if everyone was always negative and disrespectful? Not likely at all.
- The reason why I address this. A lot of you complain about the state of this community, more specifically the forums. But, a lot of the same people complaining about the problems are the ones who are going around saying negative things and directing insults towards people. Try taking a little of your own medicine and instead of complaining and contributing to the problem, take the time to act in a more positive manner and change something.
- What can we change you ask? The way people think. A community lives and dies with its users. Without users, there is no community. Would you rather be in the company of people who constantly break the rules and cause trouble? I hope not.
- Being friendly and respectful has become the minority of this community's behavior. I would like to ask people to take a step back and examine their actions in these forums. Examine how positively assuring people instead of creating negativity would do wonders for this place. Think about how much weight we have as community members to change that attitude, regardless of the game's issues. Attitude can be influenced by us. That is what we can control. Everything else is out of our hands. Shouldn't we be trying to fix things that are in our control? I'd like to think so.

If you think this game or community is fixable your either really young or naive or both. There is threads that have a sticky about vote kick in mutation and FFA that the over whelming majority wants put in yet there is nothing done. Immediately after x-trap patches there are still 1 shot hacks and speed hacks running around. Great suggestions about filters for rooms like ping restriction etc yet still nothing done. This game is just plain coded bad and way to much information is coded client side makes it so easy to hack.
This game has potential, to bad it's free to play. -

Except for the fact that I wasn't addressing the game issues. I was addressing community behavior. Also, I'm not young nor naive. Anything is recoverable. I appreciate your statements, but they are not in any way related to the point of this topic. -

Game issues are directly tied to community behavior, I don't know how you don't see that. -
This is way too true
if im racist in game or on forums itll just make it so that "monkey see, monkey do" happens
sadly the same principle goes to foriegners
so if one hacks another wants to
we have to fix this were acting liek mice staying away from the fact that this is one world and most of us arent very different -
So you're saying because the game has glitch issues and cheating issues that means I can behave in a disrespectful and negative manner towards you? Invalid logic.TheLuckster wrote: »Game issues are directly tied to community behavior, I don't know how you don't see that. -
Was going to post a thread about this:
Forumers should respect other forumers just as they would do it in real life. I mean,
you can't answer to someone you don't know things like that: stfu, gtfo, cool story bro etc...
In real life, you would NEVER talk to someone like that. So plz, stop being disrespectful, even if it's just a forum.
Sorry for bad English. -

IMO it is possible if you disrepect others they would want to get revenge in one way or another so lets say
i call a br a noob for lagging and that they cant compete with us low pingers
then he would want to get back sayign he can compete with us and hack to compensate -

I don't think you understand what is trying to be put across here. Respect, kindness, maturity; these are all REAL LIFE THINGS. This isn't about what pub has what sort of hack. Or how 'bad' x-trap is. Or even how some people thing the competitive community is ruining CrossFire. This is about the way people ACT and BEHAVE. Have some decency and leave this thread please. -

No what I'm saying is cause the game has glitch issues and hacking issues it draws a negative attitude out of people and there's nothing anyone can really do about that other then fix the issues. Or to put it more bluntly people act like ****s cause other people do something they disagree with ie hacking. -

I'm sorry you don't see my point of view but I haven't broke any rules and I have just as much right to post in this thread as you. -

I think you should have a discussion with your parents/school guidence counsoler/religious affiliat about your attitude. Because you simply have invalid logic. You're bringing GAME situations into a REAL LIFE conversation. -

That is a poor excuse to act out in an immature and disrespectful manner. You act in a negative manner towards people because of a game's issues? There is no excuse for being disrespectful to someone. Sorry. -
-
Everyone has a right to voice their opinion. No need to become a flame war. Just keep those opinions respectful. Some arguments can be healthy. Just don't degrade your words to being insulting.
The mentality I want to change. I don't want to single you out, but the "eye for an eye" mentality is what sometimes contributes to such negative feelings. Don't you think you would be the bigger and more mature person if you show him the respect even when he disrespects you? "Kill them with kindness" is something my brother always used to say. It works.I know, He clearly wasn't being respectful so I feel he deserves no respect in return. -

I do not, do you have any proof? I was simply stating the truth about human nature whether you agree or not nothing will change by posting a thread, changes have to come from something much deeper then that.
I play other online games with much better community then this and 1000% less problems. Sorry you don't see the correlation but it's there. -

This is a complete and utter amazing challenge. I'm sure many people who want to do this, but are held back because of prejudiced forumers that hate on anybody that wants to make the forums better. -
There is honestly nothing wrong with this community, both in-game and the forums. Yes, we have the occasional nade spammer and the flame war, but that’s natural. People fight all the time, and when we have one here, BOOM the mods arrive and remove the thread, some other guy bans the peeps fighting, and things are kept quiet. But I can’t say anything about it – you guys want to have nicer community and all, and I respect that. This is a friendly place to be. I don’t see why some say it isn’t.

You're just one of those people with negative attitude.TheLuckster wrote: »If you think this game or community is fixable your either really young or naive or both. Isn't it WORTH a try? Really, if you have negative attitude and say "oh, this will never happen", it's only gonna get worse.
Besides, he was talking about the forum as well when he said community not just game issues.. -

I agree very much
sometimes like when lets say trolls someone who is trying to help i cant help but retaliate and be disrepectful and these people make it hard to stay respectful and calm like Polleus and You -
