In hopes of getting ghost mode competitive again for the summer (and hopefully beyond for what it's worth) a little organization for the remaining players seems like a good idea. This isn't an official channel, it's simply hosted and maintained by the community.

For those who do not know what Discord is, it's essentially Teamspeak/Ventrilo except it costs nothing to host and the amount of people that can join the channels is very high. Another bonus to Discord is that you can run the application straight from your browser or download their desktop application. The choice is yours (https://discordapp.com/download).

You do not need to register an account to join the channel though it is advisable so you can keep your friends-list and gain access to other features (https://discordapp.com/register).

After getting the app download and yourself registered, check out this small guide (https://aigachu.wordpress.com/2015/09/06/aigas-newbie-friendly-guide-to-discord/) to get the grasp of Discord. It's important to note that whilst the web browser version does have a push to talk, it's limited in the fact that it cannot work when you're ingame so it's highly advisible that you download the desktop App so you can be ingame and on the discord channel at the same time. This allows the channel to stay efficient and maintain it's purpose. The purpose being a hub for the small ghost mode community to find games, clans, practice and PUG instantly.

Hopefully this channel will pick up and we can using it as a starting point to get Ghost Mode lively again. Next on the agenda is to get some PUGs going!

A small rundown of the channels

Text Channels

#annoucements
A quick place to pick up on what's happening in Ghost Mode

#general
Anything goes

#clanrecruitment
Specifically for people looking to join clans and for clans to recruit players. Not a voice channel.

#clanwarinvites
Find or suggest a clan war with other users. Not a voice channel.

Voice Channels

General
Anything goes, with voice chat enabled.

P.U.G.
Pick up games. Looking for a PUG? Here's the channel. Wanna start a PUG? Do it here.

Scrims
For clans looking to clan war, here's the place to find and discuss with your opposition.

Other Modes
For people who need a tiny break from Ghost Mode and are playing other crossfire modes. Probably ZM2.

Music Lobby
Come listen to 2's music when he's around. Chill room.

A.F.K.
Away from Keyboard. For those who are idle, users are automatically transferred here if they idle for 5 minutes or longer.

Rules

No direct personal attacks
Reasonable amount of banter is expected and acceptable (This is crossfire after all) but anything overboard is subject to getting banned.

No inappropriate discussion
I believe in self-moderation, keep discussions civil regardless of the topic; needless to say some topics are not acceptable, hopefully you can guess what they are and we won't have any problems.

General Crossfire rules apply
This goes without saying

Pug Channels

Only a maximum of 8 users are allowed per team, admins and moderators can hop in and out regardless of the limit. These rooms cannot be entered into by regular users, you have to be moved into these rooms by admins who will do so when you are chosen by the team captains

[P.U.G] Team 1

[P.U.G] Team 2

[P.U.G] Team 3

[P.U.G] Team 4

Channel Admins & Moderators

iPhoenixi [supDawg?] (Admin)

Frozenpizza [FrozenPizza] (Admin)

Depado [Depado] (Moderator)

If anyone wants to throw in a helping hand and moderate the discord channel, let me know.

Click on this below to get invited to the channel.
Join the channel
https://discord.gg/WCmngu4

If you have any suggestions, ideas or general inquiries, don't hesitate to ask them here. After all this is community managed so everyone gets a say on how it should be run.

This is a new channel and it'll take a while for it to pick up. The thread is subject to changes in the future.

Introduction

(P)ick(U)p(G)ames are a great way to get a little competitive action going on the side without taking part in tournaments or clan wars. Simply get on, find people, get on a team and play whilst following the rules. It's a simple formula and can be tremendous fun and it's high time we establish this regularly for Ghost Mode. After creating the CrossFire Ghost Mode Discord Channel, this was the obvious and logical next step. The two things are run and connected so if you take part in the Discord Channel, take part in the PUGs! (And vice versa). It's common knowledge that a lot of current / new players do not use the forums, but they do use other forms of communication. Ideally having something like discord is immensely helpful in creating PUGs so everyone who's mildly interested in PUGs or competitive ghost mode should definitely hop on the discord channel. We want to keep the games competitive but also fun so I tried to keep the weapon variety as large as possible, though there might be some I shouldn't have added or have missed, please let know which those are!

Procedure

To have a successful PUG, all participants should be on the same page so read the following!

The setup and structure, including the restrictions, are listed below in an easy to read format. Any other questions should be asked on this thread or on the discord chat. All questions are welcome and so are first time PUG players. Once it's seen that there are enough players online for a PUG game, PUG Moderators / Admins will pick the captains and move them to their respective channels, after-which player selection will begin. It is important to note that the captains must use a mic to communicate their choices to the observers/moderators. The captains will ask for players one at a time in order from Team 1 to Team 4 until the rosters are complete. Numerically there are four teams (i.e, Team 1, Team 2, Team 3) etc. at the current time, four teams can support a max of 32 players if 8v8 games are being played, however 5v5 are preferred to 10-20 players is the reasonable and expected number of people to show up. They also have the nickname of Team Alpha, Beta, Charlie and Delta. You will be given an estimated 1 minutes to formulate strategies, change and set your load out and meet your team once the rosters are complete, once you are ready, press ready in the room lobby to show you are good to go. Once the teams are ready and the room settings meet the PUG criteria the games can begin and be played out. At the end of each PUG session it is the captain's responsibility to provide score results screenshot and the match replay file to the PUG moderators or post them directly to this thread. These resources will then become freely available on this thread or on the Discord Channel, we want to keep a track of how many people show up, who the regulars are, who sucks and who doesn't. The replays serve as a resource for people to gauge different players play-style whilst improving their own as well as to improve on their strats. All players who wish to participate must be on the discord channel, you do not need a mic but do need headphones or any audio device so you can hear the instructions. You do not need to download Discord, you can simply run it through your browser. The number of games to be played is situational, it can range to one PUG game to several depending on player commitments. A shorter summary is listed below to getting started with the P.U.G.S

Read this thread thoroughly to understand the rules and restrictions.

Download or login from your web browser to the CrossFire Ghost Mode Discord Chat.

Show up 5 minutes before the assigned PUG timings

Introduce yourself on the text channel and your in-game name so we know who you are.

Join the voice channel so we know you are going to participate.

Show up in the assigned Server and Channel and wait in the lobby.

Wait to be selected as a captain or wait to be picked by a captain.

If you are a captain, declare your choice of player from the available roster when it is your turn.

Be moved into the team channel for whatever team you are picked for.

Move into room lobby and wait for the roster to complete, you will be given the password for the room.

Once roster is complete the countdown will begin for you to formulate a quick strategy and to change your load outs. The countdown is of 1 minute.

Game begins

Captain takes screenshot and saves replay of the game result.

Teams switch sides and play again.

PUG Game ends, new one begins with a new map from the available map choices.

Captaincy

Gameplay wise, captains have primarily two roles, one is team selection and the other is to generally be the leader for their teams. Technical side wise, captains have another 2 additional roles, save screenshots and save replays. When it comes to team selection we suggest and advise you to try to branch out to new players instead of grouping together the same team multiple times. Get new players on your team, carry a little harder, improve a whole lot more. As a leader, this is your time to test your ghost mode theories and strategies. You can tell your team mates where to be, what sites to protect and maybe who to target . Maybe you got a great new strategy to test out, like everyone camping B vents. You can do that, it's your call. It's fun being a captain so don't be afraid to nominate yourself! have a little fun and learn from a new experience. We try to get everyone to be a captain so you're definitely invited to have a shot. As far as the technical side is confirmed, simply save a screenshot of the match results and upload them to either Imgur or TinyPic and then simply reply in the thread with the image so everyone can see your glorious scores. As for replays? Send em to the PUG moderators / admins to keep em until they are needed.

P.U.G. Start Time

PST Timezone

The Do Nots

Do not hack

Do not use macros (whether for bhopping or otherwise)

It goes without saying but general crossfire rules obviously apply here.

Reporting Players

If you speculate that a player is using unfair items and/or is breaking an obvious rule of conduct you can report him by notifying the parties running the Discord Channel. Please note that if an observer / mod is not available in the match you must provide adequate proof. This proof must be in the form of screenshot, a replay file and a summary of things leading up to you believing that the reported person is breaking a rule.

Ban List

No one so far!

The PUG is to be played to have fun, if people do not follow the PUGs rules a little form of leniency will be provided, however repeated offences will result in hard warnings and potentially even being banned from playing with the PUG or from the discord channel.

Warning System

In the event that you continually break rules or getting on everyone's nerves obviously there is some form of punishment. That being said, since the PUGs are run to a higher standard and we want to keep everything organized and that also applies to punishment. Very rarely are you ever going to get insta-banned. We have two sets of warning, soft-warnings and hard warning. Consider them as integers whereas soft warning holds a value of 0.5 and a hard warning holds a value of 1. When you accumulate warnings total the amount of 3. You're banned from the PUG discord and community. So that means a total of 6 soft warnings or a total of 3 hard warnings and perhaps a mix of both. 2 Hard warnings and 2 soft warnings maybe? Soft warning may be given for something like you dropping out (multiple times, that is) in the middle of a PUG match without any warning and leaving your team at a disadvantaged. Hard warning may be something like glitching a C4, or maybe kicking people for personal reasons from PUG matches. These points do not expire. You can appeal them and perhaps give enough of a reason to have the point revoked but generally the points do not expire over time. You may consider that tough luck but official warnings are hardly given unless you've done something that's inexcusable. Play the game, follow the instructions and have fun and there will be no issues. Despite this, for those who have successfully managed to earn warnings can get their shiny names on the cool kids list below.

Warned List

"Banned" is at 1 out of 3 total warning points.

"FireZorm666" is at 0.5 out of 3 total warning points.

Appealing a warning point

You can appeal to have a point revoked if you feel there was some form of power abuse or perhaps other reasons barring the bad excuses (*cough* "my brother was playing on my acc" *cough*). If you do choose to have a point revoked, please contact one of the PUG moderators or Discord Admins other than the person who gave you the official warning.

Game Etiquette

While no one can enforce you to play or behave in a certain manner there are obviously some etiquettes that are set as a standard for GMers. They are fairly obvious to experienced ghost mode players but for those who are new or are perhaps a little unfamiliar with what everyone's expecting, here's a quick list that will improve how well you play with others and how you can benefit your team at large

While you can bring any weapon that's allowed from the above list, silenced weapons are always preferred so you do not interfere with your team mates pinpointing.

While the use of flash, smoke and grenades provide substantial tactical advantages, flashing your team mates is not good. Check your environment before throwing your flashes.

Check your mic settings to see whether it's on or the voice input sensitivity (for voice activity) is too low. Hearing you breath or typing is annoying, distracting and can block out essential environment sounds from the game.

While you are free to play as a lone wolf in the PUGs, listening to the instructions and strats by your captain is highly encouraged.

Use your radio signals to let your team know of important tactical information; here is a quick list of the common ones to be used

[ Z ] > 1 : Yes

Use this radio signal when you understand or agree with a given command and/or as a reply to another radio signal, i.e, "Found C4"

[ Z ] > 2 : No

Use this radio signal when you don't understand or disagree with a given command and/or as a reply to another radio signal, i.e, "Found C4"

[ Z ] > 3 : Found Enemies

Use this radio signal when you spotted an enemy in your area to alert others quickly of where the enemies are.

[ Z ] > 4 : Found C4

Use this radio signal when you've killed the C4 carrier and the C4 has been dropped in your area.

[ C ] > 1 : Backup A Site

Use this radio signal when you hear the C4 being planted at the site and/or feel as if the likelihood of the C4 being planted is very high at the site. That being said also use the signal if you feel vastly outnumbered.

[ C ] > 2 : Backup B Site

Use this radio signal when you hear the C4 being planted at the site and/or feel as if the likelihood of the C4 being planted is very high at the site. That being said also use the signal if you feel vastly outnumbered.

Ranked Ghost mode release would give the game the push it needs.
Because you will be releasing a mode that requires so much skill and actual training to be good at. people will work on themselves to become better in game play, using sound and pinpointing ghosts.
That will help them in other modes game play as well.

DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA

You have approximately 10 minutes to show and be ready for your match otherwise you will be declared a no-show and will be declared forfeit from your match, following that you will automatically fall into the losers bracket where, if you fail to show again, another forfeit will be inevitable and you will fail the tournament. So please show up!

In the event of you breaking any given rule, you will be given a first warning, followed by a second warning on the second occurrence of the offense and finally a disqualification following the third occurrence of the offense. This number is not specific to just one offense, i.e, breaking the rule same rule three times; if you break any of the given rules consecutively three times, you are disqualified.

In the event of a disconnection you are given approximately 3 minutes (180 seconds) to get back into the room and continue the game; in the event that you fail to come back online, it will be assumed you forfeit from the tournament and your opposition will automatically be awarded a win and proceed to the next round.

The use of macros, hacks and glitches of any nature will result in an automatic disqualification and being reported to the CrossFire Support.

RESCHEDULING YOUR MATCH

In the event that you/your team is unable to attend your match, please notify the administrating staff of the tournament immediately. Additionally, to reschedule your match, your opposition must also agree to rescheduling and a new date and time will be chosen to the compliance of both parties. In the case that the other party does not agree to reschedule, the hands are tied and there is little that can be done. The date, time and schedule for the tournament are placed beforehand and it is your responsibility to see that it matches with your own schedule.

ANTI-CHEAT

Yes, we are going to be using an anti-cheat in this tournament to avoid any foul play. The anti-cheat in question we will be using is MOSS. It is in everyones best interest to visit the website and do a quick read about the anti-cheat so we can all be on the same page regarding it's use and how to actually get it running. You can download moss using this direct link.

TIE BREAKER

In the unlikely event of a tie breaker, one additional game of five rounds will be played with the winner of this game moving on in the bracket.

OVERSEERS

Depado URL="http://crossfire.z8games.com/profile/15084821"]Dza[/URL

Please note that we are currently looking for one more additional overseer to help manage and organize this tournament, if you are interested please drop me a direct message on Discord or send me a private message here on the forums. It goes without saying that the ideal overseer would be one who knows Ghost Mode inside out and can devote their time to the tournament. Thank you.

STREAM

To avoid ghosting and other issues, spectating is disallowed but a stream with a slight delay will be available. This area will be updated when we find a suitable commentator and streamer.

Current Streamers:

No one

If you would like to also stream or would be interested in doing co-commentary please let us know by contacting us through PM on either the forums or the discord channel.

QUESTION

ANSWER

Who is hosting this tournament?

The CrossFire Ghost Mode Discord Team

Who organizes these tournaments?

iPhoenixi

These tournaments are great, is there a way I can contribute?

We're always looking for help so we can more efficiently run the tournaments. Furthermore, we're also looking for donations to help increase both the frequency of the tournaments and the prize pool. Contact us through the discord channel to see where and how you can fit into the picture.

Where do I show up at 4:00 PM PST to begin the tournament?

The Discord Channel Join the TWOvTWO lobby. Everything is managed and organized through the Discord Channel.

Do I need a mic?

Not a requirement but it definitely helps and improves the communication between you and the overseer. Plus don't you want to communicate with your partner?

How long will the tournament last?

Depends on the number of games played each day but we hope to wrap up the tournament within 3 days.

When will we get our rewards?

After the tournament has concluded and the winners have been decided.

Will only one game be played a time?

No, unfortunately to help speed up the tournament, three to four games will be run concurrently each handled by a separate overseer. The most anticipated matches will be streamed and the boring matches may not. We're limited on the quantity and quality of our streamers.

What weapons/items/characters am I allowed to use?

We are following the P.U.G. rulesets, please take a look at what's available by visiting the thread.

My soul mate dipped on me, can I change my partner?

You are free to change your partner up till the the registration close date which is the midnight of the day before the tournament matches begin.

What about subs, can I have a sub if my partner dips on the day of the match?

No. Come on man, this is a two versus two. If you can't count on your partner to be there on the match day should he really be your partner? That being said, you are free to be a clutch killer and take on the opposition 1 versus 2. If you're successful, the bards will sing about your tale for all of eternity. It would make for a pretty amusing match, too. Utter glory or complete embarassment.

I saw the schedule post below but how do I know what match number my match is?

Refer to this bracket layout. Look at the number preceded each matchup. That is your match number.

[The thread is subject too further change if deemed necessary]

Hi there, I am 1g0tN0skillZ and I´m a GM fanatic.

Before I start, I want to say that I consider myself an experienced player and not a professional. Professionals are paid to play and I'm not in that category.
The idea of this guide is to help newbies that they can play better with the little help I provide here.
I hope I can make you better in this great mode called Ghost Mode(as GR).
I´m going to show you what I consider the best spots (all maps) and what you need to do to win as GR.
I will try to make this as clear as possible(this is my first guide).

Some things about BL:
We can´t see where the ghosts are and we don´t have the bomb(obviously), that means BL has the advantage(they choose where to plant the bomb, bunnyhop, etc).
Bunnyhop: This is the main way ghosts get around without being visible(I´m not going to explain how to Bhop, this is a GR guide).

GR side.

Guns:
You use them to shoot down BL ghosts so you can kill them, instead of being killed(I think it´s pretty obvious).

The pros of the GR are the guns and the pinpoint(PP is the art of knowing where the ghosts are by simply hearing their breath).

Pinpoint:
You can easily hear a no-breath-down ghost, simply use headphones(it´s that simple). He is aprox. 5 running steps from you, the trick is as follows(use it only when you hear ghost breath):
Gently turn your mouse to the left until you hear breath on the right ear.
Next, turn your mouse to the right until you hear breath on the left ear.
When you hear sound equally in both ears just shoot him. He is in front of you.

How to combine both(guns and PP)? Easy...follow these steps:
First: Get some good headphones and use 100% gamma(you can spot the ghost easier with this, they become brighter), change the setting in the Options menu(it helps believe me).
Second: Don´t spray! Calmly shoot 1 to 3 bullets to try to hit the ghost(when you see blood, you know you hitted something.).
Third: Always use shift when you are near ghosts or near your teammates.
Fourth: Don´t use flashbangs, they are just not necessary and you can blind your teammates.
Fifth: Don´t stay in the same spot all the time(BL players are not stupid and they will soon see you always stay in one spot and they will find new ways to kill you). Change your tactics often.
Sixth: Antecipate ghosts moves! Example: If you are in Lab and you see a ghost running from BL respawn area towards A site, you know he has only two ways, either the vents or drop down to the corridor near GR respawn area. Just listen to his breath in one place and if he isn´t there, move to the other.
Seventh: Your bags

First Bag:
Any kind of silenced M4
Deagle
Grenade and Smoke

Second Bag:
Any kind of Sniper
Deagle
Grenade and Smoke

Why M4(with silencer) and a Sniper?
In my opinion, you need a silenced weapon so you don´t make much noise and that way not disturb your teammates with your spray.
AWM, is for me a great choice of a sniper simply because you can quickscope and no-scope easily with it, and as you all know, ghosts need to be near you to hit you. There are some good spots that you can camp and easily kill BL players with your sniper(I will show those spots down below).

Why Deagle, Greanade and Smoke?
Deagle is easily the best secondary weapon in the game. It has a fast rate of fire, quick reload and great power. If you can´t headshot, you simply shoot at their torso and in 3-4 shots the ghost is down.

Grenade: I use it only in two situations. When I´m pretty sure the ghost is near me and it has low/reduced health OR if someone is defusing, I throw it near the defuser and any ghost near the bomb is going to have some serious damage or instant death.
Quick Tip: If you are the only one left(you don´t have too) and you have a grenade, go for the c4 with your nade selected and start defusing it. Wait 1 or 2 seconds and throw it near you while at the same time jump back/foward(stay near the bomb while performing this so they take full damage when they get naded).

Smoke: Use it only to cover the c4 and/or to cover entrances where you think the ghosts will appear.

Now let´s talk about the best spots in each map(in my opinion) to get more kills(and survive).

Im han*[D]y and i think a lot of people will know me in GM. im currenly is in Pan[TH]er . When i play GM in GR side. People used to call me H@cker cuz i killed Ghost stay invisible in close range. When i explain them that i heard their breath , they just ignore me and kicked me out of the room. We Pan[TH]er aren't Hack or something like. Some people were jealous and called us hack. They just spread it out the world.I will show people the way that we Pan[TH]er used to play in GR ( GM mode ). The way and formula how to hear breath and locate Ghost by breath whatever First time that i post anyway

Note: This lesson only show you how to hear ghost's breath basically and depend on your good headphone ( only for headphone)
1- How to manage the sound :
i advise that do not ever turn max volume because it wont be good for your ears. In order to hear ghost easier, you should use cardsound : Realtek (im using it), Creative, ... that can increase INNER SOUND (lol i dont know if you understand this ) like Realtek's soundman whatever. I guess anyone wonder why we use that tool. We use it to up Bass in control manager to 31-125Hz. It can help you hear breath better
I will show my sound manager under this( Most other soundcard have part that control EQUALIZE)
- Here is the randomly management sound:
http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/337/12334649.png ( 1st figure )
- From 1st figure, just look at the 4 first lines (100, 200, 400 and 600), then you turn those max ( 4 lines ) . Look at the figure under here:
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/3327/randomf.png
Note: you can change the equalize whatever you want to hear better. It depend on your creative.

2- How to hear breath:
Need to obey following conditions:
*Ghost stay still invisible.( This is just basic lesson. Next time, i will post advance lesson how to hear ghost's breath bunny hop all kind)
*Alway wear headphone in both ears and right place
*Volume turn max (I dont want you to do it but if you follow my sound step above then you dont need to turn max)
*GR can hear ghost's breath in 5 running steps( distance from GR to BL). This formula use for wherever Ghost is. I proved this formula before and believe it.
*If GR hear ghost's breath then do not ever run instead hold shift to walk slowly.( I alway walk from beginning to the end)
*When GR running pass the ghost , then GR will hear breath ( distance 1 - 5 steps)
- First lesson: Detect where ghost is when hearing breath ( only when you hear breath )
first step:Turn to the left slowlyyyy until heard breath on the right's ear
second step:Turn to the right slowlyyyyyy until heard breath on the left's ear
third step: Here you go . guess what. The ghost is in front of your face
fourth step: turn your aim to that way in third step until you hear breath equally in both ears.
So what u gonna do - just send them back to hell ( lol ) im so crazyyyy
Important note for this:
+There is some place that they can stand above or below( like the second floor near water tunnel) you must test both place if you cant see any ghost on your way.
+You can hear breath if they are near over the wall.
+When you get ghost's breath equally in both ears and you didn't get lesson well so just spray each side that around aim 3 cm for security.

Tips pro for someone who finish the first lesson:
-When you detect the breath in both ears equally. But the breath is small, then move your aim up or down ( depend on your place). When you get a biggest sound so the ghost is there
-When you walk ( shift) suddenly you detect the breath. It mean the ghost is right on your gun's way.You should spray around ( do not ever shoot at 1 point)

advance tips for someone who pro :
+ Technique 1 : locate breath above you or below without failing.
When you come to the place that have breath , after you move your aim to locate the breath on straight way but that ghost can be below your leg or above your head or in front of your face. First, you need to do is jump ( funny huh )
When jump, distance from us to above will decrease. If the breath above suddenly bigger( few amount), then it possibly up there. For make sure, you need a place have distance of 3 running steps ( like under the tunnel). arr It freaking hard to explain this maybe you need to figure it out more .

- More technique will be up tomorrow + detect bunny hop by breath and tips cuz im gonna sleep. Cya

You may have wondered why many people say this random word called 'cover' every time someone is going to defuse the bomb. They may even have called you a noob for not 'covering'. This is the guide to doing this in GM in PUBS only.

I am not a professional GM player but all these methods are kind of common sense if you think about it. All these methods are useful to some degree.

Lexicon
Defuser-The guy who is risking his life to defuse the c4.
Bhopping, Bunnyhopping, B-hopping-A techinque used by BL players to move while staying invisible and reducing the effects of breath and sound.
PUBs-Public matches

General Ideas in Defusing
If you have speed defuse, you must start defusing before the bomb signal starts to flash fast red. I have seen many ways of defusing, most of them stupid. When defusing you do not have to switch to knife, you also do not have to stare at the bomb. The ideal way to defuse is to stand up with your gun ready and facing a likely direction in which the ghosts are going to come.

When to ignore ghosts coming and when not to. If you think you can dispatch the ghost and start defusing before the fast red light (Speed Defuse), then go ahead. If you think you can't, then you will have to carry on defusing and hope your teammates have read this guide. All these methods generally work if you have another play with you, as it is their job to cover you.

1st Method
React to Sight
What is it? You stare at the defuser and the areas next to him and you shoot as soon see either a ghost running or the defuser die. In which case you start shooting at where the ghost/where you think the ghost is. You may also do this as the defuser.

This is the method currently used most. It is not the best method. It is particularly bad against bunnyhoppers as they can b-hop in kill and b-hop out. This should only be used when you outnumber the opponent at least 2:1 and/or they have no bunnyhoppers in their team.

Rating 5/10

2nd Method
Hunting
What is it? You run around and try and pinpoint where all those camping ghosts are, and attempt to eliminate them to stop them killing the defuser. A person who does this with less skill/no sound would spray at likely camp spots.

This may work if you arrive at the bomb site first-for a while. However, what I have found is that people spray so much you can't really pinpoint unless you are very good.

Rating 5/10

3rd Method
Dummy
You crouch down next to the defuser and look like you are defusing the bomb, pointing your gun at the most likely way the ghosts will come. As soon as you detect something you shoot at it and defend the defuser. A less skilled player using this method would die instead of the defuser, leading them (possibly) to defuse the bomb in time.

May not work against b-hoppers, but is sometimes a useful way to buy time especially against knifers. However, does not work well with multiple bhopping ghosts picking GR off from different angles.

Rating 7/10

4th Method
Camp/Guard
You camp in places outside bomb site, where likely ghosts who were not in the bomb site when it was planted might run. Therefore you stop them getting to the bomb site by killing them outside. Works well, on ghosts that are rushing to the bomb site.

This method is potentially dangerous if you can not pinpoint. Also if the defuser dies, it may take extra time for you to get back to the bombsite and take over defusing if you are last one alive. Also you may be an easy kill for BL, if they rush you together.

Rating 4/10

5th Method
Nading
Either frag nading the defuser, where the defuser takes around 15hp damage, but any ghosts bhopping, running to him or in the vincinity will take damage. Flashing also works, flashing ghosts, so they can not see the defuser.

This is potentially dangerous, you risk killing/blinding your own teammates. This could get you kicked in Pubs. Also ghosts that were not in the damage/flash zone still might be able to kill the defuser while he is blind. Use sparingly.

Rating 4/10

6th Method
Controlled Spraying
First you would use the react method, but when the defuser is close to/has started for 2-3 secs defusing the bomb. You spray at the defuser and the areas next to him at crouching height. Preferably all your teammates do this as well. Causing and ghosts to die in that deadzone. Good players will move around while doing this. This may also be done with timed shovel swings or axe chops.

This is by far the best way to defend the defuser if you have at least 4 people alive. It kills anyone in your line of fire.

Rating 9/10

Thanks for reading, hope players can learn something!

First off I want to say that I don't consider myself to be “pro” as most people call it in GM, I think the title of pro is reserved for those who have perfectly or close to perfectly mastered the skill of being a GMer. But that also doesn't mean I'm not one of those who make a guide and consider it good when all it says is get a shovel.
Also note that this guide is somewhat opinionated as I have put my own thoughts and personal experiences in GM pubs. This guide is to help in public matches not scrims. It sounds pretty obvious but there are a lot of people out there who like to make comments like “this **** is only useful in pubs”.

Anyway this guide is covering probably most things important in Ghost Mode.
The basic concept of GM is that one side is invisible unless moving, wields knives/axes/shovels and has to set a bomb at one of the two target sites which is known as the Black List. The other side, Global Risk, is visible, has all their guns and what not and has to either kill all the ghosts or defuse the bomb before it blows up.
Although this may seem very unbalanced that the ghosts are invisible, this game is actually very balanced meaning that GR and BL have a chance of winning equally. Of course the players also determine the chance of winning but it’s very balanced unlike MM where the mutants will most likely win.

Controls:
Apart from the normal controls, you will need to know that, holding E will let you defuse or plant the bomb. If you're BL, you can also switch to carrying the bomb and then hold the left mouse button until it is set. Shift walking...I know it's a normal control but it's a control that is widely used throughout the community. Basically it lets you walk without making any sound. If you're Black List however, you are still visible (not as visible as if you were running).
That's about it for controls.

Common stuff:
There are some basic things that every GM guide will tell you and this is the section for it.
1.	Gamma/Brightness- whatever you wanna call it, it's the thing that makes your screen go bright. You can toggle it with HOME and END. Pretty much everybody tells you to put it at 100. While it may hurt your eyes, it certainly has proved to help many people.
Opinion: I like to set it at 70 when I'm playing as ghost because you don't really need to see yourself that brightly, you know?
2.	Shift walking- it's one of those things that help when you play as GR but it's not mandatory. A good player knows to ignore footsteps but knows when to walk slowly for the benefit of others. It could be considered manners
3.	Bunny hopping- (THIS IS NOT THE PART WHERE YOU LEARN HOW TO BHOP) Bunny hopping is the way the Black List ghosts get around without being visible. Most good players will want you to bunny hop so that you don't get them killed and you don't lose for the team.
4.	Machine guns- loud, they're annoying, and most of all, they don't run outta ammo. Most, and I hate using this word, noobs think they're invincible because they have a machine gun and so they can spray every FRIGGIN' CENTIMETER OF THE MAP. Well that doesn't work...One, anybody could just come from behind and go BAM and you're down. Two, Ghosts are constantly moving...spraying everything isn't going to get every single one of them. And three, they're just obnoxious...now some of you might disagree saying an RPK is the most useful thing in GM. I'm not going to disagree or agree, your gun is your choice but to those who like to make a ruckus (haha, always wanted to use that word), nobody can hear over your gun if they're near you.

Global Risk:
Weapons:
I’m not going to go over the stats of each gun as you can see them in item shop.
M4s- Very nice when it comes down to trying to kill a ghost from a distance. Its light weight makes movement easy and efficient when you’re trying to get from one place to another.
AKs- Decent in going for the long kills but even better when ghosts are all coming after you and you need something to kill them quickly with.
SCARs- A very controversial gun...I'm not gonna go into it because I’m not a SCAR user.
SG552- I've noticed that whenever I introduce a school friend to CrossFire and he picks up the SG, he immediately takes a liking to it. I don't know what it is with the gun...but the 1.5x on the scope makes the gun good for some purposes in GM. It’s pretty powerful so it’s an all-around gun.
XM8- Popular gun, especially the advanced version. It’s a gun that’s good for pretty much anything.
MP5- Weak sauce imo...Personally I hate this gun but don't let it stop you from choosing it if you like it. The advanced version especially ticks me off because of its low power.
Snipers- there are only so many places you can snipe without being ninja'd...but snipers are fun and useful in GM. Although the weight brings you down a little, but having a good pistol will definitely match the bag up.
Shotguns- Great at close range but terrible if you see a ghost all the way over there. If you have a pistol, put it with a shotty and it's good AS LONG AS YOU CAN AIM WITH THE PISTOL! But be sure to always reload, even though you can fire mid-reload, it’s always good to have your gun full of bullets.
Machine guns- if you can aim with MGs, go for it but they’re really not worth the hassle.
Submachine guns- They’re not that bad in GM, kind of a mix between MGs and rifles. But having a bigger clip makes you wanna use more ammo so try not to tempt yourself.
That's pretty much it, if you have a specific gun you have in mind that you'd like me to comment on for you, go ahead and ask. I’m

Pinpointing:
One of the few things left for the soldiers to kill the ghosts. Pinpointing is the er...art...of listening for ghosts and killing them. The word pinpointing is a bit of a misconception because it sounds a lot harder than it could be. The basic of pinpointing is at least just hearing the ghost and knowing the direction/area of the map he's at. A medium level of PPing is being able to hear the ghost and then be able to figure out where he is within a couple feet. Advanced pinpointing is hearing the ghost and then knowing exactly where he is on the dot. You could argue that they're all the same and the advanced is just faster. Which is somewhat true, but a pro pinpointer can hear breath-down ghosts over spray too.
My advice is to get a pair of headphones, iPod ones work too. And just practice. It's not necessarily something you get taught. It's self taught, you can’t teach a blind man how to feel can you? He has to experiment and wait and PRACTICE. Learn from your mistakes.

Anticipation:
Thinking ahead is something that requires logic. To take a quote from my friend, [KMA]Shun who helped me pinpoint, you have to know the map like a fat kid knows cake. If you know that a ghost just went in the water and is the tunnel at the end of the water leads toward BL base, then you should find a quicker route to BL base or think of what he would do. Of course you can’t read minds but it’s not like you’re going to be wrong EVERY single time, unless you really don’t know what the **** to do. For example, say you’re in Lab, you see a ghost run from BL base to the opening toward the vents at A, you know there’s only 2 ways to go, either the vents or drop down to the Hallway A and land next to GR base. So you make your way up to GR base and you hear that the breathing stops at where the vent would supposedly be. You rush to the vents, whip out your sniper, take aim and BAM THERE HE IS. You fire once and you smile. That, sir, is anticipation. Or hack

Dealing with hackers, hackusators and what not:
If you’re one of those people who thinks having a hacker on your team is brilliant and you’d win every single round, stop reading this guide. You’re an idiot. What you want to do is hit ESC then click Vote kick and kick that sonofa***** out. How would you feel if you were in BL and this hacker killed you EVERY SINGLE ROUND within 5 seconds? I’m pretty sure you’re not gonna be saying, oh yeah, that’s fine because hackers aren’t ruining CrossFire at all.
Hackusators…you WILL get people calling you a hacker if you anticipate and pinpoint. But there are solutions to that. Try playing with your clan or friends, they’ll tell you when you’re getting kicked. If not, you need some new friends. If that doesn’t work, try being friendly to the whole room before you get accused. Unless you really do hack, there will always be at least one person that will back you up. And there will always be people who don’t care
But most of all, don’t QQ when you die or whatever. It’s just pathetic to see someone whine about how that ghost hacks or that guy hacks. Everybody does “whine” a little saying that guy lags or that guy tanks. It’s a part of the community, if you don’t like it, get off the computer.

Black List:
Bunny hopping:
This is the secret to success. There are a lot of variations of bunny hopping and it’s very hard to cover them all. I’ll just try to teach you the first form I ever learned. It’s probably the worst one but hey, there are other guides that focus on pure bunny hopping.
So first, hold CTRL, you should be crouching. Then you hold S, you should be crouching and walking backward at the same time. Then press SPACEBAR. You should be jumping. Now this part is a little confusing for you because I have to tell you the rhythm of the hop but you can’t really read this as I’m thinking it so here we go. Each time you press the space bar, it’ll be about a lil less than a second. If you try it out in-game you’ll probably get the rhythm by experimenting. But that’s how you do it. To change direction, just move your mouse. You’ll be going backward so watch out for that.

Timing your weapon:
I’m not gonna lie, I can’t use knives. I just hate that sometimes it doesn’t kill when it should. Axe is a lot better because if you swing, it’ll usually kill them. If you’re unlucky, you’ll do 80 damage. Slashing with an axe is also a lucky thing because if you slash at the head, sometimes you’ll get a one hit kill even if the guy has 100 HP. Shovel, if you have one, you probably don’t needa know your timing.
But as knives go, here’s a tip:
Most likely you won’t kill the guy in one hit. Unless he tanked the hit, he’ll have 90 HP. Which is when you summon your slashing power and hold left and in one slash, it should finish him. Unless he has armor…then you should probably ninja it :P

In Dewero’s GM BL guide, Dewero pointed out some different playing styles a ghost can use. These playing styles don’t always work as some require a team effort which you can’t get in public games.
Well here’s something similar. It just shows different ways ghosts get around.
Rushers- probably are either new to Ghost Mode or have a shovel. It’s easy kills for easy EXP. They usually don’t bunny hop and just rush straight to the base/person. It’s hard to rush when you get teamed, that’s why most shovelers/armor users do this.
Bunny hop rushers- they like to bunnyhop to remain inconspicuous and then ninja you down. And then keep on bhopping away. They’re racking up kills while keeping alive. Doesn’t matter what kind of weapon you have, but just as long as you can bhop for your life.
Cautious bhoppers- there are two ways to go with this, either go with the C4 guy and help him or go alone. They don’t rush but rather wait for the target to come to them.
Cautious C4- they won’t risk losing the C4 to get a kill but rather wait until the planting zone is clear for them to plant it.
Reckless C4- they’ll take their kills with the C4 while telling all of GR where they are. This takes a lot of effort to keep alive as most people team on you. This is a pretty bad way to go because the C4 is important.

Weapons:
Knife- standard melee in CrossFire, does 100 damage to the chest and head with some exceptions. Not always reliable as a one hit killer but takes time to get better at.
Axe- 100 damage to almost anywhere. Unless you hit the legs, you’ll probably get the kill. A bonus with axe is that if you try slashing, you might get a one hit killer to the head.
Shovel- probably the most annoying **** you’ll come across. Its range is far and it looks delayed. But it’s just slow to register. Usually shovelers have SPOP and breath down which makes it a hard target.
If you’re decided between the axe or shovel, I would definitely say axe. Although having shovel makes life easy, you’ll get people saying “kick that shovel noob” and some will kick you. An axe isn’t as “reliable” as a shovel, meaning shovel WILL kill the person in one hit swing unless he tanks. But it’s a lot more “fairer” than a shovel.

Maps:
Lab- probably the classic map of all players. It’s not that big but it has good space for bunny hopping and nice hiding spots for ghosts. It’s one of my favorite maps just because as GR, if you can coordinate your team (or in a scrim) you can cover almost every place making it easy to win. Of course great BL players can get around that.
Relics- it’s fairly wide and roomy. It’s easy to just down and take someone out on your way down as BL. But bunny hopping is a pain because of the water and uneven floor. The coloring of the floor sometimes makes it hard to see the ghosts too.
Metro- the smoke is good and bad for both sides. It lags a lot of people when it comes out but if a ghost is standing in it, they’re shown. It’s a lil complicated with all the little nooks and crevices but it’s manageable.
Hakenkreuz- probably the easiest map for BL. With a shovel, a ghost can drop down in the beginning of the game and take down all the soldiers. It’s very easy and provides plenty of bhopping room. But GR still has many windows and holes to kill you from.
Complex- the maze of GM. With so many tunnels and pop up holes, it’s hard to keep track of all the ghosts. But most ghosts will realize this and dumbly make it obvious where they are by moving around loudly. Knowing the map will get you even more kills.

UK VERSUS NA MATCHES
In the event that the seeding results in a matchup where a North American team is playing against an United Kingdom / European team, the matches will have to be played on both servers. It's a time consuming endeavor but the only one that is fair under the circumstances. The scores will be tallied up and the winning team annouced depending on the results. These matches will be played immediately one after another. Same map, same rules.

DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA

You have approximately 10 minutes to show and be ready for your match otherwise you will be declared a no-show and will be declared forfeit from your match. So please show up!

In the event of you breaking any given rule, you will be given a first warning, followed by a second warning on the second occurrence of the offense and finally a disqualification. This number is not specific to just one offense, i.e, breaking the rule same rule two times; if you break any of the given rules consecutively two times, you are disqualified.

In the case that the other party does not agree to reschedule, our hands are tied and there is little that can be done. The date, time and schedule for the tournament are placed beforehand and it is your responsibility to see that it matches with your own schedule.

This is subject to change per host's discretion.

TIE BREAKER

In the unlikely event of a tie breaker, one additional game of five rounds per half and 10 in total will be played with the winner of this game moving on in the bracket.

OVERSEERS

Who organizes these tournaments?

These tournaments are great, is there a way I can contribute?

We're always looking for help so we can more efficiently run the tournaments. Furthermore, we're also looking for donations to help increase both the frequency of the tournaments and the prize pool. Contact us through the discord channel to see where and how you can fit into the picture.

Where do I show up at 1:00 PM EST to begin the tournament?

The Discord Channel Join the #general lobby. Everything is managed and organized through the Discord channel.

Do I need a mic?

Not a requirement but it definitely helps and improves the communication between you and the overseer. Plus don't you want to communicate with your partner?

How long will the tournament last?

Depends on the number of games played each day but we hope to wrap up the tournament within a day.

When will we get our rewards?

After the tournament has concluded and the winners have been decided. That being said however, there may be a delay in providing prizes to everyone. Not everyone may receive their prize at the same time. Rest assured however everyone will receive their reward eventually.

Will only one game be played a time?

No, unfortunately to help speed up the tournament, two to three games will be run concurrently each handled by a separate overseer. The most anticipated matches will be streamed. We're limited on the quantity and quality of our streamers.

What weapons/items/characters am I allowed to use?

We are following the P.U.G. rulesets, please take a look at what's available by visiting the thread.

Are we allowed to have subs?

There will be no subs, similar to how we had our 1vs1 and 2vs2. If one (or two) of your team mates are unable to make it to the match. You are free to play with what remains of your team against the odds. Good luck.

I saw the schedule post below but how do I know what match number my match is?

Refer to the bracket bracket layout. Look at the number preceded each matchup. That is your match number.

Same map, same rules.

DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA

In the case that the other party does not agree to reschedule, our hands are tied and there is little that can be done. The date, time and schedule for the tournament are placed beforehand and it is your responsibility to see that it matches with your own schedule.

That being said, this will be a one versus one battle. Each team will nominate their strongest player to participate in this match. Planting is allowed but camping / waiting out the clock is not. In the event that the matchup is of UK vs NA, the same match will be played in both servers with the results being tallied. It is in your best interest to not let the game come to a tie.

OVERSEERS

iPhoenixi URL="http://crossfire.z8games.com/profile/6288268"]supDawg?[/URL

After the tournament has concluded and the winners have been decided. That being said however, there may be a delay in providing prizes to everyone. Not everyone may receive their prize at the same time. Rest assured however everyone will receive their reward eventually.

Will only one game be played a time?

No, unfortunately to help speed up the tournament, two to three games will be run concurrently each handled by a separate overseer. The most anticipated matches will be streamed. We're limited on the quantity and quality of our streamers.

There will be no subs, similar to how we had our 1vs1 and 2vs2. If one (or two) of your team mates are unable to make it to the match. You are free to play with what remains of your team against the odds. Good luck.

INTRODUCTION

There has been many Ghost Mode players before to host Tournaments and perhaps it’s about time for me to pitch in to the GM community. Ghost Mode has been at a rapid decline in popularity throughout the CF community and majority of Ghost Mode players have gone inactive due to it as well. So let’s try to kick off the New Year with a little Tournament. The Tournament will consist of a 3 person team(3v3) Hopefully with the help of some reliable friends, I can actually pull this off and everyone can have a great time and earn a little reward on the side. In order to even try to organize a Tournament we’ll have to have plenty of teams contending. I don’t want to waste my effort for no one to sign up. Remember, there is no fee to sign up, it’s completely free! Tell your friends, put together a team, sign up! Even if you’ve never had Competitive experience in the field of Ghost Mode. it’s a great opportunity to get some experience and freshen up on your Ghost Mode skills before the MOTG 2018! Who knows you might win! Stay humble, refrain from cheating, and have fun!

As some of you may know my name is Paul, I've had a wide variety of IGNs. A few of the most notable ones are FrozenPizza and egy*pro*hero. Recently I've been eavesdropping on some of the GM posts around the forums. The content of these threads could easily be the most controversial I've ever seen. However the essential dilemma of the threads was generic. The ideology of the GM forumers was to try and prove who was better by spamming egotistical comments and screenshots that attempted to justify the demeanor of the player or humiliate another player. I was appalled by the insensitive remarks in these posts and further disgraced by the fact that the people who were making them were ex clan members, and also what I like to think of as students of mine.

Reminiscing back to the first player that I'd had the pleasure of helping was Brad. Brad had recently left Pink~Mist. This was probably around early June of 2013. When I first saw Brad I evaluated him, and some of the imperfections that were most evident was the accuracy of is pinpoint, and a bhop of more than 1 and a half generations behind what the ideal GMer of that time was capable of. Being that his GR side would have been easiest to correct, I did some diagnostic tests and tried to back-wire his logic in GR. Then I gave him a prototype of some graphic equalizer settings. Immediately I noticed tremendous results in his gameplay. I was tremendously proud of Brad, but something inside me told me not to express this feeling of exhilaration. It was the fact that subconsciously, I noticed that Brad had an ego that was growing at an alarming rate, certainly much faster than his skill. In clan wars, Brad would often make remarks about the other team after being killed. I didn't like these remarks at all, but the fact that he was just understanding how to cope kept me from shunning him about these remarks. At the same time we had started to pick up a lot of members in the clan, a notable one being Dupe_Frog. Dupe_Frog and Brad had a very close relationship that I didn't read as harmful to the clan. It is very likely that Brad was sharing my equalizer settings with Dupe_Frog because he pinpointed a few coordinates to the left, just as Brad did. As we progressed through a number of clans, these egos grew even larger. By the time we got to Inflicted-, Brad's ego was out of control. Brad was assuming a lot of control for someone we had known for only a few months now. The leader, Ryan, confronted Brad about the S5 that he'd been circulating around the forums. Brad was terribly offended by Ryan's concerns, and a huge argument spawned. When it was settled, no consensus was reached other than after that, Brad left along with some other members and remade Evil Glory.

Now that I think of this whole situation involving the evolution of these egos, I can partially blame Chop. Now Chop was known to make egotistical comments, but he meant them in a manner that was comedic. Chop certainly didn't believe he was the best GMer, in fact he didn't think he was better than anyone else. But Brad seemed to think it was okay to be egotistical. Brad didn't apply his ego in the same humorous manner that Chop did either. Brad was completely certain that he was better than other players, and he'd let them know at a moment's notice too.

I only regret the fact that I never noticed that Brad's ego was going to completely influence a wide range of players. If only I could have nipped the problem from the source, then maybe the state of GM would be better.

But also, I've noticed that somewhere along the times where I had all these students and clan members who played along with me have taken a part or piece of my technique for their own use. Remember when I said that I gave Brad some Equalizer settings to help him pinpoint? Because of that just about everyone in ghost mode uses some sort of equalizer or playback adjustment to help them play. At that time, I was also developing a bhop that was inspired by me watching CF1Female play. Some how this particular hop was being used by a few players from Evil Glory and other clans. It is a crude imitation of my hop, but they've adapted rather efficiently for frag hunting. I'm not much of a frag hunter, but rather a survivor. I play to outlast every player and be the last player standing. Other players probably don't take any form of note of what they are actually doing when they play because they don't play with a technique. They only play using excitement and adrenaline. Some of them use a little knowledge, but not much. JudgeSim is extremely good at controlling his emotions while playing, and using both his knowledge and technique to get things done. Now one thing I do as ghost, is to navigate the map, damaging as many players as I can before dying. If I have the option to plant, I do just that. And when all these damaged players come to the bomb site, I try to pick them off as best I can. Moving on; from now on I will be very selective on who I teach my techniques, or share equalizer settings with.

Now this has been my perspective on the origins on this new "ideology" of the GM player. I really wish I had enough time to collect all the current thoughts I had about Ghost mode, but I'm a bit pushed for time right now and can't elaborate as much as I'd like to. I'd certainly hope that no one took offense to any of the things I pointed out in my outline. Appropriate discussion is always welcome, and please remember that the mods will be more than willing to infract any one who starts a flame war, or makes off-topic, irrelevant posts.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the 2v2 February Tournament.

So MOTG is around the corner and we want to host one more tournament before it. We will try out some other things compared to tournaments we've just had, to finally leave the few struggle that we still had in the last tournaments behind us and run a solid tournament without problems. One thing that we explicit want to mention in this introduction is, that this tournament will be will be player-hosted. Means, we will just create the rooms for you and leave then, you have to play your match on your own and report the result afterwards. So similar in some points to the last MOTG. We hope that this kind of tournament open some new chances and we have trust that the community is mature enough so that we can run it. Enough of the words, everything is stated in details in the rules. Have fun with a new tournament.
