    Default [Guide] Gear Design How-To

    ═════════════════════╬═════════════════════
    What is Gear Design?

Gear Designing is a feature in Lost Saga that allows players to take their gears and design them differently. Gear designing is done by an item called a "Gear Designer". Gear Designers are special items that allow players to recolor or redesign their gears in different ways. This allows players to express their creativity and individuality through the redesigning of their gears. Show off your own sense of style in battle, and let them know you stand out from the crowd! Gear Designing is meant as a fun feature that allows players to add even more customization to their heroes.

How Do I Redesign My Gears?

To redesign a gear first head to the Shop and purchase a Gear Designer. After purchasing a Gear Designer from the Shop head to your inventory and click the item and press "Use". After activating the item it will show you a list of the gears that you can redesign from your inventory. Select the gear you'd like to design and it will direct you to the Gear Design Menu. It will give you the option to select either the male or the female version of all the gears in your inventory before heading to the actual design menu. Some templates do not have an alternate female form and thus are listed by the Gear Designer tool under "Male" but can be applied to female heroes.

    The Process

To redesign a gear first head to the Shop and purchase a Gear Designer. After purchasing a Gear Designer from the Shop head to your inventory and click the item and press "Use". After activating the item it will show you a list of the gears that you can redesign from your inventory. Select the gear you'd like to design and it will direct you to the Gear Design Menu. It will give you the option to select either the male or the female version of all the gears in your inventory before heading to the actual design menu. Some templates do not have an alternate female form and thus are listed by the Gear Designer tool under "Male" but can be applied to female heroes.

Upon entering this menu, you will see four options:
    1. Apply Design
    2. Obtain Template
    3. Preview Active Template
    4. Cancel Designing

To design your gear template, you must first edit a "blank" template provided by choosing the "Obtain Template" option. Blank templates may come in male and female form so please choose the correct gender. After you have gotten your template you will be ready to start designing. The template should be saved to your computer for you to access. To start designing a gear you must first select which program you are going to use to change the template.

    Recommended Editing Programs include:
    1. Photoshop
    2. Paint Tool Sai
    3. Corel Draw/Painter
    4. GIMP
    5. Paint Net

You may use any other digital art program if you can upload the template and work on it there. These are just the more commonly used programs.

Once you have designed your template, use the "Preview" Button of your Gear Design Menu to make sure that your finished work can be properly viewed. Remember, some gears cannot be designed and others do not have templates to begin with! These would include items such as Exorcist Helmet, Legendary Mark, UFO, Baby Dragon, and other gears. You also cannot redesign character features such as Werewolf's Werewolf Form or Dragon Rider's Dragon.

After you are satisfied with your design, "Apply" your template to the gear. This is done by going to the Gear Design Menu and uploading the template. If done correctly it will show your design on one side and the original design on the other. Upon application, the gear should show your active design and bear a special artists icon that allows you to differentiate it from other gears of the same type within your inventory.

    Caution
    1. You may not be able to work around certain gears with certain effects. This would include something like Witch's Orb.
    2. Some gears have no template so don't panic if you can't select a certain gear.
    3. Be careful when designing! All Gear applications are final but can removed. You will not be returned a Gear Designer if you choose to take off a design from your gear, you would need to repurchase a Gear Designer.
    4. Gear Effects, such as glowing auras and skill effects, are not editable with Gear Designs. Exception: Grim Reaper's Scythe's Aura is redesignable.
    5. Only changes made to the template that are within the lines of the actual gear will be applied. As soon as the designs move outside the lines of the templates and onto the actual square that houses the templates, those will be ignored by the Gear Design Tool. So stay within the lines of the gear.

    6. Be careful with the file names!!!
    a) NO spaces
    b) NO special characters such as @#^%#$
    c) NO foreign language characters
