  • IDK if this thread is still active but I really want higher FPS on my computer (bought it for $600 off my local best buy) because my FPS is really low and I want to increase it but a good 50 or 100. Can someone tell me what I need to buy/upgrade? (im using hp. THANKS!)

    • What are the specs on your computer? Something that might boost them a bit is to set the resolution to the lowest (I use it on 800x600, get 150-180 fps which is more that enough for me) but it's pretty hard to work on the problem without the specs I'll try to help, I promise nothing tho!

      • Not sure if this belongs here, but would anyone suggest using mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX Blues solely for gaming (specifically fast paced, FPS games such as CF)?

I'm currently deciding on purchasing either Blues or Browns. From my research, it appears that Browns have a slightly decreased actuation point than Blues; however, the Blues have a more pronounced clicking sound which I like (although I can't say the same for others around me).

The keyboard I'm planning on buying is the Ducky Shine 3, for anyone who is curious.

Falsely accusing me of hacking simply gives me a confidence boost.

I have a quickfire tk with cherry mx blues and personally I don't like them. They are too light when I press them and I wouldn't recommend them for games where you constantly press keys. The blues do have a pretty loud clicking sound which I don't mind. I do hear good things about the ducky shine 3 tho. I would go with a heavier switch

depends on the game. CF is heavily CPU reliant, whereas most newer games//games on newer engines are heavily GPU reliant. Say what games you are wanting to play and we'll be able to help...but it's worth saying that you will always get more value by building one yourself than a pre-built machine.

                          Laptop / Notebook :
                          + Pro:
easy to take with you - portable ( is a must if you travel a lot )
low space required - only need a plane surface
                          - Cons:
not so much upgrade you can do : you can increase RAM or change HDD to a SSD
need a high hardware for gamming - therefore are more expensive
small display - most affrodable have a 15.6 inch display

                          PC:
                          + Pro :
upgradable all the way ( you can start with a good mainboard and use CPU internal graphics and later add a good video card after you have the money , add RAM , add internal storage .. etc)
more cheap then same hardware config on a laptop - display price not included most of the time
                          - Con :
need display, keyboard, mouse ,headset ..etc ( also for a gamming laptop you may wanna use external keyboard and sure will need a mouse and headset)
                          need more space
                          is not portable

BUT latest trends made laptops more affrodable .. even with nice hardware for gamming ... and there is laptops for gamming under 1K euros :

                          For Example:

                          1. This one is already oldie since is the 4-th generation CPU : ASUS F550JX - but price is good if you can find-it on your country
                          2. A newer version with 6-th generation CPU : Asus GL552VW - now this one is around 900 Eur - but is a good choice if you need a laptop.

Basically for gamming laptops i advise to look on Asus ROG series (or Alienware - but they have overhigh killing prices) - they may have same hardware as other brands (Lenovo, Toshiba, Samsung.. etc) - BUT they are specially designed for gamming and have a better airflow - also they may endure long gamming sessions

So main problem is the budget ... but if you will use only at home is best to consider a PC - there you can start with a lower budget and add later some upgrades

Here is a link to some PC builds. Of course these are "DIY" builds, in this day and age you can find videos of how to do just about anything, or you could have someone put it all together. Find a build that is right for your budget and look for the parts on eBay that are up for auction. It may take awhile to get all the parts going the auction route but it's worth it. I did the $800 build and won all my parts through auctions on eBay and paid a grand total of $423. All the parts that i won were new in box too!

                            • thanks a lot TheShadowRo for the very detailed answer .I think after this info ill get me a PC cuz i have a low budget and as you said i can add parts later which is a gr8 advantage. So at first i do only need a Motherboard and CPU +Keyboard etc?And do u guys think its necessary to have a 144Hz display for CF or what?DOnt want to spend 200+ only for a display.
